Brothers Shyam and Hari Bhartia lost over $500 million as shares of their
foods outfit Jubilant FoodWorks, which has franchises for Domino's Pizza and
Dunkin' Donuts, took hit amid lower consumer spending. Unfazed, they plan
to open 125 more stores this year. One out of every 5 delivery orders for their
Domino's pizzas is placed online. Meanwhile their pharma firm, Jubilant
Lifesciences, reeling under debt of $630 million as interest costs soared, saw
its stock fall by two-thirds in the past year. Brothers also own stake in AIMlisted Jubilant Energy.
Hari S Bhartia is a Chemical Engineering graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and was awarded
the distinguished alumni award by the institute in 2000.
Mr Bhartia has over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceuticals & speciality chemicals and biotechnology, food, oil
and gas (exploration & production), aerospace, information technology and other sectors. He has led his business
group into strategic alliances and affiliations with some of the leading global corporations.
Mr. Bhartias role in institutional work includes his role in various capacities with the Indian Institute of Technology
(IIT), Delhi and IIT Kanpur and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) of which he is also the President.
He has been a member in several educational and science & technology programmes of the Government of India
.Mr. Bhartia is also a member of the Communication Working Group of Global Round Table on Climate Change,
Columbia University, USA. He is the Co-Chairman and Managing Director of Jubilant Life Sciences Limited and
serves on the board of several companies including Television Eighteen India Limited, Shriram Pistons & Rings
Limited and Vam Holdings Limited.

The Bhartias began by acquiring Max India's bulk drugs unit and followed it up with one
acquisition in Europe and two in the United States. Bulk drugs, generics, formulations,
contract manufacturing, contract research, clinical trials, drug discovery and
biotechnology -- Jubilant Organosys has a wide spectrum of life sciences activities in its
portfolio. All built within the last couple of years.
Hari Bhartia, co-chairman and managing director of Jubilant Organosys, is the public
face of the company. His brooding eyes and salt-and-pepper beard often peep out of
Page 3 columns. Bhartia's wife, Kavita, is a designer and owns an upmarket designer

store called Ogaan. So he can't always avoid being seen with the capital's fashion
fraternity.

Jubilant Life Sciences Limited. Mr. Bhartia serves as a Managing Director of Jubilant Enpro Ltd. He
served as the President of Confederation of Indian Industry. He serves as the Chairman of Jubilant
Industries Limited. He is Founder of Jubilant Foodworks Limited. He has 25 years of experience in
Pharmaceuticals, specialty chemicals, Bio-technology, Food, Oil & Gas (Exploration and Production),
Aerospace, Information technology and other sectors. He serves as the Non-Executive Co-Chairman of
Jubilant Energy NV. He serves as the Co-Chairman of Jubilant Energy Limited and Jubilant Foodworks
Limited and has been its Founder and Director since March 16, 1995. He served as the Chairman of
Expert Group to develop policy initiatives for Technician Education through the National Project
Implementation Unit. He serves as a Director of Jubilant Life Sciences Limited, Jubilant Enpro Ltd., GeoEnpro Petroleum Ltd., Dominos Pizza India Ltd., Enpro Secan India Ltd., Network Programs(I) Ltd. and
Food Express Stores (I) Ltd, Shriram Pistons & Rings Limited He served as director of Vam Holdings
Limited since March 06,2013. He has been a Director of Jubilant Industries Limited since November 1,
2010. He serves as a Non-executive Independent Director of Television Eighteen India Ltd. He serves as
a Member of Advisory Board of High Street Capital Private Limited. He has been a Director of Global
Broadcast News Ltd. since September 7, 2007. He has been an Independent Director of TV18 Broadcast
Limited since September 29, 2006 and Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India Limited since
December 20, 2010. He serves as a Non-Executive & Independent Director at Network 18 Media &
Investments Ltd. He is a leading industrialist of India with more than 25 years of experience in the
Pharmaceuticals and Speciality Chemicals and Biotechnology, Food, Oil and Gas (Exploration and
Production), Aerospace, Information Technology and other sectors. As Master Franchisee, Mr. Bhartia
established Dominos Pizza India as the largest fast food chain in the country. He has also contributed
actively through deep involvement and lead roles in the Young President Organisation Inc. (YPO). Mr.
Bhartia' s role in institutional work includes his role in various capacities with Indian Institute of Technology
(IIT), Delhi and IIT Kanpur. He served as Chairman of Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and
Confederation of Indian Industry, Northern Region from 1997 to 2003. He served as a Director of United
States Educational Foundation in India (USEFI). He has been a Member in several educational and
science and technology programmes of Government of India. He is a Member of Communication Working
Group of Global Round Table on Climate Change, Columbia University, USA. He worked as Chairman of
National Committee on Technical Education & Training of CII since 1998, Member or CII National
Technology Council since 1998 and Chairman of National Committee on Chemicals and Petrochemicals
from 1999 to 2000. Mr. Bhartia has been conferred Distinguished Alumni award by Indian Institute of
Technology, Delhi in the year 2000. Mr. Bhartia received a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from the
Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
Brothers who cochair Jubilant Group get half their wealth from fast food through listed Jubilant FoodWorks, which
runs pizza chain Domino's in India and opened its first overseas outlet in Colombo, Sri Lanka in September. It will
open Dunkin' Donuts stores next year. Pharma outfit Jubilant Life Sciences' shares fell as margins squeezed by rising
costs. Listed their Netherlands-incorporated oil-and-gas explorer Jubilant Energy on London's AIM in 2010.
