1. I handle various complications in my every-day leadership roles with grace

under pressure, always keeping a level head.
2. My ability to think quickly and speak on my feet is an asset in both social
situations and classroom and professional operations.
3. My open mindset allows me to listen well to others in order to both understand
them better and glean what information I can from their suggestions.

My daily culture of interaction with young adults has given me a stark appreciation for
honesty. Trustworthiness is, at its most simple, the basis of all integrity, and without it,
what virtues can one truly have? Being honest with others and especially with
yourself will get you far, I believe, but I know that being honest in one's actions is the
pinnacle of that which is, in a sense, the foundation of government: human
interaction

The historic ideal that resonates most with me is the simple idea that if we forget
history, it will repeat itself. This is simple in principle, but so easily forgotten, though it
is a driving force of democracy. Another is a well-informed citizenship; governments
thrive on the active influence of those who do not see issues and complain, but those
who find solutions. I would like to learn about steps I and other citizens can take to
make a change for the better,
Because of the intricacies of the modern world, it is impossible to give each American
direct control over government affairs. However, the American government has a solid
claim to its equal opportunity it presents to citizens to have an influence. Of course the
majority of Americans do not deal directly with politics, but it does affect each citizens
day-to-day life, therefore, Americans should take advantage of the opportunities they
have to influence their politcal world, especially via the vehicle of voting

I have a desire to expand my horizons. While I have experience with governing

bodies within my school, I have never encountered the chance to learn about
legislation beyond the small scope of my high school's operations. As I enter my
adulthood and voting years, I feel a duty to inform myself about the country I call
home and the crucial political structures which will surround me throughout my life.
