Subject
When the CMP module of the site configured with dual-stack is modified and
one of the two transmission links (ATM and IP) is abnormal, the CS/PS service
of the site may become abnormal and call drop rate may increase.
2.
If the CMP module of the site is migrated, and the RCB board of CMP type
resets at any time after the CMP migration, and one of the two transmission
links (ATM and IP) is abnormal, the CS/PS service of the site may become
abnormal and call drop rate may increase.
3.
If the CMP module of the site is migrated, and the RCB board of DMP type
resets at any time after the CMP migration, and one of the two transmission
links (ATM and IP) is abnormal, the CS/PS service of the site may become
abnormal and call drop rate may increase.
Root Cause
The NodeB status and transmission link status maintained on CMP and DMP are
inconsistent.

1.
After the site is migrated, reset the RCB board A and board B (master & slave, 4
boards) of the site at the same time. This operation can affect the services,
therefore, it should be performed during the low-traffic hours and a permission
from the customer must be obtained before the operation.
2.
If abnormality appears after site migration, we can reset the site to recover the
services, which is a remedial measure. But solving the problem by resetting the
site is not a thorough solution. There is abnormal data with the NodeB status on
CMP, which may be synchronized to DMP after CMP/DMP reset and hence
cause abnormal services. Therefore, after the site is reset to solve the problem
temporarily, the site configuration should be modified according to the third
method as soon as possible.
3.
In the case of normal operation of site, modify the NodeB status to be the same
as the transmission link status. If only the ATM transmission link is normal in the
site, change the site to an ATM site; if only the IP transmission link is normal in
the site, wait for the faulty link to recover and then modify the configuration to
dual-stack. It is recommended that the modification should be made to the sites
which have the transmission problem for a long time.
Important: Many RNCs on site have had the site CMP module adjusted. It is
recommended that the third method be used, lest the RCB board resets and
leads to abnormal services.
