Assignment Guidelines Description: This assignment will help you prepare for future job interviews and by reflecting on your Cornerstone experience and applying it in an interview format. Think about everything you have done and experienced this semester. How are you going to get your ideal job based on your Cornerstone efforts? Please reflect upon your Cornerstone Service Learning experience. To help prepare you for future job interviews, we would like you to complete this Cornerstone reflection in the form of answering job interview questions. You must answer a total of four questions: one required question and three that you choose from the list below. Your answers should be specific to Cornerstone and your experience as a project manager. A. Preface: Provide a short introduction in which you restate your client organization, your teams overall SMART goal, and a brief description of your teams overall project. B. Individual Experience: Write a well-thought-out and detailed report about each of the following based on your own personal Cornerstone experience (not that of the team as a whole, but your own unique experience in Cornerstone this semester): Provide the one-sentence SMART Objective of the event that you projectmanaged and a brief description of it. If you have managed more than one event, list them separately and repeat the requirements below for each one of them. Include events that were cancelled or those that did not meet their objective. Report the quantitative outcome of your SMART Objective versus the targeted outcome. (one sentence or graphic representation (bar chart) of target versus actual outcome) Discuss key lessons learned in the execution and management of your SMART Objective. Focus on things you did well that contributed to success, and/or on changes you would now make to improve outcomes.
C. Interview Questions (use your Cornerstone experience as the basis
for your responses) Required question to answer (limit response to one paragraph): 1. What does service learning mean to you? Select any three (3) of the following questions to answer. (limit responses to no more than two paragraphs each) 2. Tell me about a time that you had to manage a project. What went well, what didnt go well, and what would you do differently next time? 3. Tell me about a time when you conflict within a team. What was the conflict, what did you do to resolve it, and what was the result? 4. Describe a time when you used time management and planning skills to organize a project. What was the project, what process/tools did you use, and what was the result? 5. Describe a time when you had to lead a team. What did you do to keep others motivated? Were you a successful leader, why or why not? 6. Describe a situation when you had to use your verbal communication skills to get an important point across. 7. Sometimes it's easy to get in "over your head." Describe a situation where you had to request help or assistance on a project or assignment. 8. Describe a time when you worked with a colleague who was not completing his or her share of the work. What did you do about it? 9. We can sometimes identify a small problem and fix it before it becomes a major problem. Give an example of how you have done this. 10.Describe a time when the priorities on a project you were working on changed suddenly? What was the situation, your action, and the result? Format: List your name, Lab Number and date at the top of the page. Reflection statements/answers should be typed using Arial/Times size 10-12. Use single spacing. The prefatory portion of this assignment should be one brief paragraph. The Individual Experience portion of this assignment may vary in length somewhat based on the number of events that you project-managed and on your individual experiences. In general, it should be a couple of paragraphs plus your SMART Objective statement and statement of outcome. List the interview question, and then your response. Limit your responses to the length indicated for that question set. (So, for the interview-question portion of this assignment, you will respond to four (4) questions, and submit a total of no more than seven (7) paragraphs unless otherwise indicated by your lab instructor).
