Lumen controller LuCo-AD 1-10V/DALI

Datasheet
General Description
The LuCo-AD is an autonomous, intelligent control node fitted to outdoor
luminaires for residential, road and urban applications.
The LuCo-AD controls the driver/ballast through either a DALI or 1-10V
interface.
The LuCo-NX also provides a sensor input which is compatible with the
dry contacts of a wide variety of presence, movement or traffic detectors
to adapt the light levels on demand and the LightSync technology which
ensures dusk/dawn detection.
It also provides independent energy saving algorithms with a Constant
Light Output (CLO) feature which compensates for the depreciation of the
luminous flux over time and a Virtual Power Output (VPO) feature which
equalises wattage steps in a luminaire to prevent excess lighting.

Based on the ZigBee wireless protocol system, all the LuCo-AD nodes
together create a robust and reliable autonomous mesh network to control
the luminaire based sensor signals (such as motion detection) to adapt
the light intensity when required and to group dimming profiles for
customised lighting levels and maximum energy savings.

An external sensor can be connected (2) to each LuCo-AD
(such as a motion detector).
A LuCo-AD can also be used without a lamp and only
with a sensor.
All LuCo-AD nodes communicate with each other wirelessly (3).
A mobile commissioning device (4) is used
to transfer the configuration to the LuCo-AD node.

Applications

General operation

The LuCo-AD controls LED drivers and ballasts as per the

The LuCo-AD is designed to perform two major tasks.

wiring diagrams below.

It is designed to be used in outdoor luminaires for residential,
road and urban applications.

1. Control and detection

The LuCo-AD receives incoming commands (sensor events) from sister
nodes in the mesh network and acts accordingly to adapt the light
output of the luminaire using its 1-10V/DALI interface (0 - 100% light).
If a sensor is attached to the sensor input of the LuCo-AD, it will send
a detection event to the RF mesh net and all of the associated

luminaires will act according to the event and idle dim profile stored
in the LuCo-AD nodes.
Behaviour in case of disruption / uncommisioned installation
In case of disrupted RF communication, the Luco-AD node will operate

with the maximum value of the Idle or Event profile and reacts to its

own sensor.
If the installation is not commissioned, the LuCo-AD will turn its out-

put (1-10V/DALI) to 100% power on.

2. Generate Energy Savings
The LuCo firmware has two inbuilt remotely configurable energy

saving algorithms:
1

i. Constant Light Output (CLO) which compensates for the

depreciation of the luminous flux over time according to the

maintenance factor of the luminaire/lamp/LED assembly.

ii. Virtual Power Output (VPO) which equalises wattage steps
in a luminaire to prevent excess lighting.

Behaviour with Idle/Event
Each LuCo-AD node normally runs the configured Idle profile. Each LuCo-AD can be configured to be activated by specific sensors for the Event
dimming profile. A LuCo-AD node can be activated by up to 15 sensors.

Mounting
The LuCo-AD is designed to fit into the gear compartment of the
luminaire. The recommended antenna position is on top of the
luminaire to provide optimum conditions for wireless communication.
The COAX antenna cable must be installed so that it is fixed with a
radius of 10mm minimum. If damaged, the antenna (and cable) must
be replaced. Only one LuCo controller can be fitted per luminaire.

Technical Data
ZigBee/IEEE address
The LuCo-AD is a node in a large mesh network of LuCo-AD nodes.
To represent the node in a map and address it individually, the
geographic position and the unique ZigBee address needs to be
recorded. This address is printed on four barcode labels on the
node. After installation on-site, the barcode must be scanned
during the configuration of the system.
