Corporate Orientation
1. What have I learned?
During the corporate orientation, I learned the different
policy of the medical city. The vision of the medical city, which guided
the employees towards the goals of the hospital, which is to be a
patients partner towards optimum quality health. The mission, were we
should help the patient be a part of the health care, which allows them
to have a choice towards their care. The corporate values which gives
priorities to the employees of the medical city, for us to provide a high
quality service we can give.
Aside from the mission, vision and corporate values, i also
learned the different areas of the hospital. The history of the Medical
city, how its started and how it is up till the present, which shows how
the people of medical city invested their dedication and effort the
institutions, which brought the hospital to where it is now.
2. How do these learning relate to my present work?
It helps me to value my work as a staff nurse and guided me on
dealing with my patients. It also helps me to be familiarize with the
area and services that the medical city offers to my patients.

Safety and Security Seminar


1. What have I learned?
I learned the different security measures that the medical
city imposed. How to protect ourselves and the patients. The hospital
has security camera all over the hospital. The hospital secures the
patients by locking the door during the night to assure their safety
while sleeping. The security needs to checks the bag of the employee
for them not to be tempted to hoard of take hospital properties.
2. How do these learning relate to my present work?
I've learned how to comply with the security measures that
the hospital imposed not just for my patients but for my own safety.

Disaster Preparedness Plan


1. What have I learned?
I learned the ways how should i act during disaster or
unnatural events that might happened. Like during a massive
earthquake, during this events, the people inside the hospital should
gathered in front of the foyer. I also learned that the Medical city are
evacuation point during a massive calamity in the nearby areas. I also
learned how to acted during a fire on the hospital. Well, the hospital
can stand a fire for two more hours which allowed the patient and staff
to evacuate and to avoid panic. During a fire, the patient who cant
walk alone should be prioritize at the elevator. While the patient who
can walk can use the stairwell.

2. How do these learning relate to my present work?


During a massive fire and earthquake, I know my role in
securing not just my own safety but my patient as well. I learned how
to help my patient on the bed and cant walk and those patient who can
walk, to guide them and to avoid panic.

Hospital Infection control


1. What have I learned?
I learned the different ways how to lessen an infection and
diseases that might spread. How to separate infectious waste, sharps
and dry materials. How to use personal protective devices. The ways to
deal with contact precaution patients, not just to protect my self but
my other patients. I also learned the different ways to acquire a
microorganism on the hospital surfaces.
2. How do these learning relate to my present work?
I can use this knowledge how to protect not just my self and
my family at home. I know being a staff nurse we are exposed to
different diseases, by this seminar it helps me to avoid acquiring an
infection.

JCIA Oreintation
1. What have I learned?
Joint commission International Accreditation are the highest
form of accreditation that the hospital can have. JCI is an accreditation
body formed in the United states of America, to maintain a high quality
service of the hospital around the globe. It helps not just the medical
city but the Philippine health care to achieve a high standard care that
the hospital can provide. JCI priorities the patients identifiers, how to
avoid injury inside the hospital, how the health care team should
communicate.

3. How do these learning relate to my present work?


It is very helpful because it gives me an idea how to provide
a high quality service to my patient. A service that accepted not just
here in the country but all over the world. It helps me to provide a high
quality care.

Standard First Aid


1. What have I learned?
I learned the standard first aid that i can give to my patient.
During a untoward event a simple ways how to avoid progression of
injury to my patient. Standard first aid such as the CPR, which allows
patient to save during an accident or an heart attack or stroke. A
couple of minutes can save a life during this time.
2. How do these learning relate to my present work?
It is very helpful because it gives me a chance to save a life
even with a limited resources and to save a life with a short period of
time.

Basic Life Support


1. What have I learned?
I learned the basic life support such as Cardiopulmonary
resuscitation, the code white and code blue. A nurse can call for a code
while when their is an episode of fall or loss of consciousness, it
actually secures patients safety. While code blue can call if its a matter
of life and death, it is for the patients need to be revive.
2. How do these learning relate to my present work?
Its gives me an information how to act during this untoward
events to save our patients. It helps me to identify my role during a
code white and code blue.

International Patients Safety Goals


1. What have I learned?
International patients safety goals are a guide set by the
Joint commission international to secure patients safety during thier
stay on the hospital. The IPSG ensure a patients identifier, patients fall,
bedsore, medication error and t avoid hospital infection. As a nurse
their is lot of things to avoid this events.
2. How do these learning relate to my present work?
People comes in the hospital to seek help for their own or
love ones health. A hospital should be a place to cure not to harm. That
is the reasons JCI creates IPSG based on their extensive research all
over the world, to secure patients safety. As a staff nurse it helps me to
give a high quality care together with the other health care team.

Point of care testing 2


1. What have I learned?
Point of care testing, is an advace assessment tools that
uses a device to identity patients blood sugar at the bedside. It uses a
device called sure flex sure scan that give an instant result. It is very
easy to use and very accurate.

2. How do these learning relate to my present work?


As a staff nurse in 14a, it is very common to have a patient
who has an endocrine problem. With these device it helps me to
identify patients current blood sugar, therefor if their is untoward result
i can acted.
