(Community ENTerprise Operating System)
Introduction to Centos:
CentOS (abbreviated from Community Enterprise Operating System) is
a Linux distribution that attempts to provide a free, enterprise-class, communitysupported computing platform which aims to be functionally compatible with
its upstream source, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
It is built upon the Linux kernel (monolithic) and uses the GNOME/KDE
user interface (user selectable) with updates managed by the Yum package kit.
CentOS support is offered for the x-86, x-86-64 platforms.
9. Choose the right storage device from the displayed list and then it shows a
storage device warning pop-up read it well and choose the correct option
(else data on disks could be lost).
10.You are prompted to enter the host name and network settings.
11.Select the time zone.
12.Enter a password for root user.
13.Select the appropriate type of installation.
14.You are prompted to create a partition for installing the OS and to make
partitions for swap, boot, and root.
15. Before clicking next you are asked for confirmation to write changes to
disk.
16.Now, you may select the default operating system and also add additional
operating systems to boot loader list.
17.You are prompted for installation of additional software.
18.Now, the installation of Centos 6.5 OS begins lasting up to several minutes.
19.After completion of installation you are prompted to reboot.
20.After rebooting, the Welcome Screen is shown and then the setup agent
guides you through some basic configuration.
21.After agreeing to the license agreement you may create an account i.e.
username, password then after that set date and time click forward to
continue.
22.You may select the Kdump option depending upon available RAM.
23.After short delay the login screen will be appear. Login with your
credentials.
24. The CENTOS 6.5 desktop screen is displayed.
