JORDS BUSINESS
Since 1972, Jord has been making ideas a reality around the globe.
Jord designs, manufactures, commissions and services custom-engineered
process equipment, modular skids and turnkey plant.
We service a broad range of process industry, including alumina, coal,
minerals, nickel, oil and gas, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, power, steel
and sugar.

projects are those where we work with a customer to produce an
outcome that exceeds expectations. This may involve achieving a
higher grade product, increasing plant capacity, improving the
environmental impact of a process, or developing a demonstration
pilot plant to prove new industrial processes.
A strong emphasis is placed on working with customers to develop
innovative and cost effective process solutions. Our engineers are
encouraged to use their technical skills and practical experience to
think laterally and explore all options.

Stable private ownership over the decades has provided an opportunity to

JORD FOUNDATION
The Jord Environment Trust (JET) has a charter to support international
causes that help foster a biologically diverse and sustainable planet. Jord
contributes a percentage of group profit each year to the JET Fund. The fund
is managed on a voluntary basis by Jord staff. The brief is to grow the funds
capital over time, and to periodically distribute income generated from this
capital to environmentally related causes that fall within set guidelines.
An environmental trust is somewhat apropos, since jord means earth in
Scandinavian languages. Jord cares about the health of our planet, and as a
technology driven company, we actively pursue new technology that helps to
clean up our environment.

TECHNOLOGY
1. Dry Cooling
Jord has supplied many thousands of air coolers and steam condensers
throughout the world. Many of Jords earliest units are into a third decade
of continuous service. This longevity is testament to the robust nature of
our designs. References are available for extreme conditions such as
pressures over 4,000 psi, temperatures up to 600 deg C, sour service,
hydrogen service, and high pour point service.
2. Heat Transfer
Jord has partnered with customers to develop, design and fabricate heat
transfer solutions for complex process requirements. Examples include
slurry heater-flash vessels for nickel processing, barometric condensers for
alumina refining, rotary dryers for carbon black production, furnaces for
metal calcining, fired heaters, hair pin exchangers and catalyst coolers for
petroleum refining. Process conditions often involve one or more of high
temperature, high pressure, corrosive fluid and erosive slurry, where close
attention to design is critical.
3. Process Plant
Jords turnkey plant capability has evolved over many years. The foundation
was in a series of evaporation, crystallisation and carbon plants delivered
in the 80s and 90s. The skills gained here have since been applied across
multiple process plant applications. Many involve clean air and clean
water solutions, aimed at ensuring the Process Industry conducts its
business in a sustainable manner. Jords clean air technologies span
particulate, acid gas, NOx and organic vapour removal. For clean water, we
offer falling film and forced circulation evaporative systems as an energy
efficient and cost effective means of effluent disposal.
4. Filtration
Jord offers a comprehensive range of vacuum, pressure and media filtration
process plant. Equipment includes vacuum belt, drum and disc filters,
membrane chamber and tower filter presses. This broad technology base
allows us to keep an open mind when weighing up the merits of different
filtration options for any given application. Our goal is to ensure we are in
a position to provide impartial, objective advice in equipment selection
recommendations.
5. Separation
Jord has licensed separator, filter and coalescer technology for two and
three phase separation of liquids and solids from gas streams. Methods of
separation include vane packs, plate packs, cyclones, multi-cyclones, filter
cartridges and coalescer cartridges.
In many instances, Jord has been able to retrofit existing equipment with
an alternative separation concept. Increased plant throughput and/or
efficiency has resulted with minimal plant disruption and at low capital cost.
In addition, Jord offers its own in-house strainer technology, for particulates
removal from liquid streams.

MANUAFACTURING
Jord maintains exclusive, stable fabrication partnerships across multiple countries
and continents. Many of these partnerships have spanned decades. Our
preference is to work closely with a single fabrication partner in each region.
We look to align our interests with our partners and embrace the transfer
of know-how and ideas. We avoid arms length subcontract arrangements.

QUALITY
Jord has maintained ISO 9001 accreditation since 1994. Systems adherence
and consistency across the group is regularly put to the test via internal and
external audits. Non conformances are monitored at Director level to ensure
meaningful close out results. We invest time and energy to fully train and equip
our people to perform their tasks. Staff are inducted into new positions, and
are properly equipped with the latest technology tools.

SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT

Jord is committed to maintaining safe working practices for our staff, our
fabrication partners, and visitors to our offices and work sites. Regular audits
are undertaken, minuted and autioned, to ensure our work practices are
continually critiqued and improved upon.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
In 1996, Jord invested in Lotus Notes software, allowing us to develop Jord
Horizons, a series of interlinked datebases that provides a comprehensive
project execution system. It provides real-time information to all staff in our
various Business and Group Service Divisions, wherever in the world they
may be located.
