Observation Determines Reality:

One of the most bizarre premises of quantum theory, which has long fascinated
philosophers and physicists alike, states that by the very act of watching, the observer
affects the observed reality.
It is because I agree with researchers at the Weizmann Institute of Science in their
marriage of philosophy and physics that I stand firmly RESOLVED:
When in conflict, human rights protection ought to supersede state sovereignty in the
conduct of United States foreign policy.
All Definitions are to be contextually defined, however if challenged by the Negative; I
reserve the right to call on additional definitional support to demonstrate my Affirmative

With that said: MY paramount value for todays debate is Naturalistic Observation:

Defines Naturalistic Observation as a method of observation, commonly used by
psychologists, behavioral scientists and social scientists, that involves observing the
behavior of subjects in their natural habitats in many different situations and
circumstances.

My value criterion is The virtue of selfishness as defined by Ayn Rand because it is the
best tool with which to measure if my value is being upheld in this debate.

Rand defines and redefines the terms she uses as they apply to her theory. These include
values, reason, selfishness, selflessness, sacrifice, individualism, collectivism, and
rights.

To demonstrate my value supremacy I have 3 premises:

1. Observation determines reality

2. Closed off Societies violate the human rights is an endangerment to all mankind.
3. In action by one is an endangerment to all.

Premise 1: Observation determines reality as demonstrated by both The Heisenberg

Uncertainty Principle of consciousness & the Law of Attraction

The truth is, everything in the universe is ultimately Energy, and Energy is influenced by
Mind.
Something only appears as matter when it is being observed.
The observer simultaneously plays a part in creating the reality he is observing. The
Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle of consciousness states that no pure measurement is
possible without creation. Physicists who deal in quantum mechanics state: You cannot
(objectively) observe something without changing it in the process.

Premise 1: Observation A: Double Slit Experiment as demonstrated by Hitler and the

Holocaust
Matthew Francis June 7, 2011

A given wave function represents the state of a system, which may be one or more
photons, electrons, atoms, or any number of other entities. The state itself describes the
probability that a system has a particular position, momentum, spin, etc.

Premise 1: Observation 2: Schrodingers Cat Dual Paradox as demonstrated by the North

Korean State.
Theo Merz telegraph.co AUG 12, 2013
A cat is placed in a sealed box along with a radioactive sample, a Geiger counter and a
bottle of poison.

If the Geiger counter detects that the radioactive material has decayed, it will trigger the
smashing of the bottle of poison and the cat will be killed.
This states that a particle exists in all states at once until observed.
If the Copenhagen interpretation suggests the radioactive material can have
simultaneously decayed and not decayed in the sealed environment, then it follows the
cat too is both alive and dead until the box is opened.

Premise 1: Observation 3: Stanford Prison Experiment: as demonstrated by the actions

and events surrounding the Guantanamo interrogators abuse incident.
Kendra Cherry June 2013.
According to Zimbardo and his colleagues, the Stanford Prison Experiment
demonstrates the powerful role that the situation can play in human behavior. Because
the guards were placed in a position of power, they began to behave in ways they would

not normally act in their everyday lives or in other situations. The prisoners, placed in a
situation where they had no real control, became passive and depressed.

Premise 2. Human rights are good

The United Nations Charter, Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and UN Human
Rights covenants were written and implemented in the aftermath of the Holocaust,
revelations coming from the Nuremberg war crimes trials, the Bataan Death March, the
atomic bomb, and other horrors smaller in magnitude but not in impact on the
individuals they affected.

Premise 2 Observation A: Closed off Societies violate the human rights of all mankind.
Large numbers of people in many countries lived under the control of tyrants, having no
recourse but war to relieve often intolerable living conditions.

Premis 2: Observation B: Communism is wide spread; Cuba , N. Korea & China

Applied Practicality: It is again demonstrated that people and governments are always
influenced by the promotion of self serving interest states alike based on observation:
Communism is still affecting over a Billion people currently, the only way to minimize its
harms and protect the rights of the people is to reveal its human rights violations to the
world and alter its reality.

Premise 2: Observation C: US foreign policy observations have lead to a more unstable

world.

After taking office, President Obama embarked on one of the riskiest experiments in
American history. He decided to see what the world would look like if the United States
pulled back from its role as guarantor of global stability and underwriter of the
international order.
The more we withdrew, the more unstable the world became. The more we tried to let
others lead, the less we could influence or control events. Today, we are less able to

deter war and keep the peace and far more exposed to terrorism than when Obama
entered office.

Premise 3: It is the role of the United States Federal Government to Seek Out Risk
Variables and Neutralize them in the as a means to ensure Regional stability As
mandated by the International Affairs Strategic Plan, sited by the US State Department as
sited at state.gov;

Premise 3: Contention A: Through the International affairs strategic plan: regional

stability is the number one concern of the United States Federal International Policy.

STRATEGIC GOAL [NUMBER 1]: REGIONAL STABILITY: Prevent instabilities from
threatening the vital and important interests of the United States and its allies.

Premise 3: Contention B: Transparency serves as a tool in the war to preserve human

rights.

Enhance accountability to, and in its decisionmaking processes, inclusion of, the voices,
perspectives and concerns of both internal and external stakeholders, particularly by

Intelligence collectionused here in a broad sensehelps to reduce risks for the nation
state regardless of whether the threat is terrorism or industrial espionage. It
encompasses activities performed by security services and other organizations for
specific purposesfor example, to enhance decision making by politicians, the military,
civil servants, and other officials. The term security services, thus, refers to the
intelligence community, which gathers and analyzes intelligence for the safety and
security of nations.

In conclusion, Edmund Burke warns us that: The only thing necessary for the triumph
of evil is for good men to do nothing.
With that being said, cross applied to my numerous Applied Practicality repeatedly
demonstrated above: I have demonstrated within reason that people and governments
are always influenced by the promotion of self serving interest states alike based on
observation:
Having supported my value of Naturalistic Observation: as demonstrated via the virtue of
selfishness has confirmed that Todays resolution:
When in conflict, human rights protection ought to supersede state sovereignty in the
conduct of United States foreign policy.
I now stand open for cross examination and points of clarification.
