2. Nouns replaced by Pronouns are called Antecedents.
3. Subject Pronouns are used when the pronoun is used as the subject of the
sentence.

indirect object or object of the preposition.

Agree or Disagree
1. Show some slides (one at a time) that consist of sentences using pronouns.
2. Ask the participants to agree or disagree with the shown sentences. Tell them to
write their decision on their notepads.
3. Tell the participants to keep their answers for a while and that they will revisit
them before the end of the session.
1. Form the Home Groups.
Form groups of four participants.
Name each group as Home Group 1, 2, 3, and 4.
Name each member of the group as Expert 1, 2, 3, and 4.
Explain that each expert member is responsible in reporting to the Home
Group some Rules about pronouns.
2. Form the Expert Groups.
Gather all Expert 1s, 2s, 3s, etc. in separate groups.
Distribute Activity Sheet Make the Rules for the Expert Groups
Let the members of the 6 Expert Groups to discuss and do the activity
assigned to them.
Give them 5 minutes to do it.
Remind all the experts of their task when they go back to their Home
Groups.
3. Instruct the experts to go back to their respective their Home Groups.

1. Instruct all members that they have 1 minute to share with their home groups
the discussions and rules formed when they were in their expert groups. Have
Expert 1 start the sharing.
2. Tell the other members to write the rules shared as these will be used in the
next activity.
3. Distribute Activity Sheet Answer with Rules to each Home Group.
4. Let the groups answer the questions with the rules that they have discussed.
Give them 10 minutes to do this.
After the activity:
5. Call on each home group to share with the whole group the rules that they used
to answer the statements/questions in the activity sheet.
6. Publish the rules formulated by the groups on the board.
Refer to the rules formulated by the participants:
1. Are pronouns difficult or confusing to use? Why?
2. How did you formulate your subject-object pronoun rules?
3. Should you not have the rules, what difficulties would you have encountered in
doing the activity? Why do you think so?
4. What new learning, realization or confirmation about pronouns have you made
in this activity?
Show a PowerPoint presentation containing the following:
Pronoun comes from the Latin word pro nomen which means for a noun.

Pronouns replace nouns within sentences making them less repetitive.
Nouns replaced by Pronouns are called Antecedents.
Pronouns should always agree with their antecedents in number and in
gender.
Subject Pronouns (We, I, They, It, She, He, You) are used when the pronoun
is used as the subject of the sentence. They also follow the be-verbs such as
is, are, was, were, am, and will be.
Subject pronouns usually follow the words than and as __ as.
Object pronouns (me, you, him, her, it, us, them ) are used as a direct object,
indirect object or object of the preposition
Agree or Disagree? A Revisit.
1. Tell the participants to bring out their Agree-Disagree decisions written during
the introductory activity.
2. Show the same slides (one at a time).
3. Call on some participants to answer whether they stick to their previous answer
or have changed it. Ask for some rules to back up their decision.
4. Continue showing the rest of the slides.
Ask the participants:
Now that you have relearned or been refreshed with subject and object pronouns,
what steps would you take to enhance such learning?
