St. Paul Lutheran Church is a congregation of The Evangelical Lutheran Church in
America (E.L.C.A.). It is referred to as
Borchers since Rev. Henry Borchers, who
served our congregation from 1857-1881,
advised and influenced a small group of
pioneer settlers that wanted to establish a
congregation in the area. This year we
celebrate 162 years of life and ministry in this
beautiful country setting in Southern Indiana.
We look forward to many more years of
growth and change as we seek continually to
be faithful to Gods call to mission.

The Sacrament of Holy Communion is

offered at the 8:00 a.m. services on the 2nd

and 4th Sundays and at the 10:15 a.m. service on the 1st and the 3rd Sundays of the
month. Christians who believe in the true
presence of Christ in the bread and wine for
our forgiveness and salvation are invited to
receive Holy Communion.

Sunday School classes are held each Sunday for all ages at 9:10 a.m. Visitors are
welcome to attend.
HEARING ASSISTANCE: We have

head phones available for those in need of

assistance with hearing. They are located on
the table at the entrance of the sanctuary.
LARGE PRINT BULLETINSThere

are a handful of large print bulletins available. They are located on the table at the entrance of the sanctuary.

GIVING CHALLENGEA giving challenge has

been issued to supporters of the Care Team
Family Care fund. Five hundred dollars has been
given by an anonymous donor who has pledged
to match up to $500 more for donations given to
the fund in April. If youve been considering
making a donation, this is a great time to help
needy individuals and see your donation double
in value! Thanks to all who have already donated
to this cause.
NEWSLETTER DEADLINE is today. Please
give information to Michelle or put in the secretarys mailbox in the church office.
PICTURE DIRECTORYToday is the last day to
sign up at church in the narthex. You can also
sign up online at www.stpaul-borchers.org (click
the Church Directory link). Pictures will be taken
on May 6, 7, 8, 9, and 26.
CONFIRMATION CLASS is today. The class
will end at 2:00 p.m., except for those being confirmed who will make their banners. Parents of
those being confirmed are encouraged to stay
and assist with the banner-making. Papers are
due that day from those being confirmed.
HANNAH CIRCLE will meet at 9:00 a.m. on
Tuesday, April 21 in the fellowship hall. Jo
McGrew is hostess and Bible Study leader.
MOVIES & POPCORNCome enjoy Big Hero
6 on Wednesday, April 22 at 10:00 a.m. This is
an animated, G-rated, award-winning Disney
which all ages will enjoy! Critics say the movie is
briskly-paced, action-packed, and often touching.
Feel free to bring sleeping bags, comfy seats,
pillows, or whatever you need to enjoy movies
and popcorn in the Fellowship Room. Invite your
friends, family, and neighbors!
CONGREGATIONAL QUARTERLY MEETING
will be held next Sunday, April 26 during the
Sunday School time.

CONFIRMATION will be held on Sunday, May

3 at 9:00 a.m. PLEASE NOTE: There is only 1
worship service that day!!
CONGRATULATIONS to Floyd & Carol Browning on celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married at Borchers by Rev.
Winter on April 24, 1955.
ATTENTION TEENS AND YOUTHThere are
new books in the church library!! Stop by and
check them out. The library is working on updating our teen and youth books. This is a work in
progress. If you have any suggestions or ideas
let Mandy Otte know.
FISH FRY on April 24 from 5-8 at Hope Moravian Church to support Kristies Krew Relay for Life
team. Free-will donations will be given in
memory of Kristie Wessel to the American Cancer Society.

WHY SO MANY SANDHILL CRANES? The

seniors group will travel to Muscatatuck National
Wildlife Refuge for a presentation about Sandhill
cranes by Donna Stanley on Thursday, May
14th. A driving tour and a picnic lunch will also
be enjoyed by the group. A carpool will leave the
church parking lot at approximately 10:00 and
return mid-afternoon. Please sign up at the Welcome Center so accurate transportation can be
planned.
PICNIC GROVE CLEANUPThe Jr High and
Tweener youth will meet on Friday, May 1 at
5:00 p.m. to clean up the picnic shelter houses
and grounds. Bring buckets, rags, work gloves
and rakes. Wear old tennis shoes and clothes!
KIDS BELLS TEAM 2 will be playing at the
Confirmation service on May 3. Remember
only 1 service at 9:00 a.m.

BOOK BUZZWe are reading The Light in the

Ruins by Chris Bohjalian for our next meeting on
April 27 at 1:00 pm in the narthex. Come join us!

LEARNING ABOUT ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE Congregation and community members are invited to join St. Paul's Stephen Ministers as a guest
speaker from Schneck Medical Center gives an
overview of the illness on Monday, April 27 at
6:30 PM in the adult Sunday school area. The
speaker will also give pointers about how to relate best to individuals in our lives who are affected by Alzheimer's. Information will be offered on
available resources and local support groups, as
well as a question and answer session.

SYNOD ASSEMBLY DELEGATES NEEDED

Synod Assembly will be June 5-7 in Indianapolis. We need 1 female and 1 male delegate.
Pastor Steve will be unable to attend due to officiating a wedding on June 6. Please talk to Pastor Steve if interested.

FOOD PANTRY items being collected for April

are Helper meals (hamburger, tuna, and chicken). Please place your donations in the basket
by the main entrance or in the wooden box by the
kitchen.

GRADUATE RECOGNITIONIf you know of

someone who is graduating from high school or
college, please let the church office know. We
will be recognizing all graduates during worship
on May 31.

separating Jews from Gentiles and proclaims the good news of
Gods inclusive forgiveness in Jesus name to Cornelius, a Roman
centurion. As a result of Peters preaching, Cornelius and his
family become the first Gentiles to be baptized in the name of
Jesus Christ.
