D7100's custom setting for f5: Customize Command Dials. To do this, navigate to
the Custom Settings menu, scroll down to f5: Customize Command Dials, then
navigate down to Aperture Setting. Press the right arrow to enter the Aperture
Setting option, then choose Aperture Ring and hit OK. You will then be able to use
the aperture ring to manage aperture when your D7100 is in "M" or "A" shooting
mode. When in "P" or "S" shooting mode you will continue to see the "fEE" error if
the aperture ring on your D Lens is not on the highest F number.
Hi, everybody! I faced this problem too, but ive finally found the solution. You must set the f6:
Customize Command Dials / Aperture setting: OFF. This will allow you to use the apperture ring of
the lens. Hope this helps!
