Controls of reader and ADF are performed by the reader controller PCB.

Free curvature mirror

Motor

Scanner unit is equipped with the 3 folding mirrors and 4 free curvature mirrors.

Fan

Free curvature mirror has symmetric facet in horizontal direction and asymmetric facet in
vertical direction against the optical axis.

Adjustment Method

Checking the left hinge height

1) Checking the rear-left height of the ADF.

Adjusting the Height

Set paper against the protrusions of the stream reading glass in such a manner that the
seat of the stream reading glass is nearly hidden.

Pre-check

Caution:

Check whether the front and rear document glass spacers provided under the bottom of the
ADF are in close contact with the document glass when the ADF is closed.

Set paper so that it does not reach the document reader.

If visual check is difficult, perform the check with reference to the next and subsequent pages.

MEMO:
Insert a sheet of paper between the ADF scan glass and the document glass spacers
(two) and pull out the sheet in the direction of the arrow. It is recommended that slight
resistance is felt when pulling out the sheet.

2) Pulling out the set paper

Pull out the paper in the direction of the arrow to check that you feel slight resistance.

Caution:

Use plain paper.

Insert a sheet of paper in such a manner that the sheet material portion of the stream
reading glass is concealed.

glass.

Adjust the height of the right hinge

1) If the height is improper, adjust it with the right hinge adjusting screw.

MEMO:
The result of this adjustment is retained on the reader controller PCB. As such, unlike
previous ADFs, you will need to make this adjustment at time of installation so that you
will be able to store its result in the reader unit. If you omit this adjustment, the following
will likely occur:
- wrong original size detection

Caution:
Loosen the lock nut before adjustment, and tighten it after adjustment.
