Dear Honorable Judge Briccetti,
I am writing this letter regarding my brother Matthew Libous. Matt is my older brother, by 4 years, and
our parents are Fran and Tom Libous. We grew up on the south side of Binghamton, NY. We are a
close family and my brother Matt is one of the reasons why we are so close.
Growing up Matt was always one of my best friends, not just my brother. He always included me in
activities with his friends, although I was younger & it was not "the cool thing". He was always kind as
an older brother, while most older brothers were not so nice. Matt always included everyone, never
looking down on anyone or judged them. His kindness extended not just throughout his childhood &
adolescence, but into his adult years at college and in law school.
When Matt graduated law school he decided to work for the government as a DA assistant. Much like
our father, he wanted to help the community and thought working for the government would be a great
start. Matt took much pride in watching our father throughout the years and wanted to follow his lead.
I know this because repeatedly he mentioned how proud he was of Dad and the work he had done with
the southern tier. So Matt went to work for the DA and continued down our Father's path of public
service.
Matt then thought he could help the community by defending those who are found on the wrong side of
the law. He worked as a defense attorney for some time and then started his own law firm.
Now, Matt runs a company where he employs many people who support their families. Matt has built a
successful company through hard work and still finds the work for our company. The employees fulfill
the construction aspect of the job in the field. He is not just our boss but our leader. He not only
employs us, but always supports us, gives us the tools necessary to complete our jobs, & takes an
interest in us as individuals. Matt is committed to people, not because he gets something out of it but
because of his generous nature. I know I may be biased but my brother is the fairest person I have ever
worked for. He can also be very demanding, but wants the best for us. I know as long as Matt is around,
WCS will be fine and the people we employ will continue to support their family.
Your Honor, I respectfully ask that you show mercy on my brother and please keep him at home with his
family and out of jail. I have seen him give so many people second changes and I believe he deserves
the same.
