INSTITUT MOZDAHIR INTERNATIONAL

A PRESENTATION
Mozdahir International Institute (IMI) is a non-profit
organization registered as an NGO in Dakar, Senegal,
where its headquarters is located. IMI has signed
headquarters agreements with Senegal and Guinea
Bissau, and is also present in the Ivory Coast and
Mauritania.
IMI is a tool for the Twelver Shia community present in
several West African countries and is keen to promote
this branch of Islam in peace, love and sharing.
IMI is also working in the following fields :
1. Education and Professional training
2. Health programs
3. Community Development
4. Culture
5. Habitat
6. Production and
rational Management of Natural
resources
GOAL
The promotion and integration of the shia school of
thought in western african countries through spiritual
and material development of man.
MISSION
As an International NGO IMI has contributed in the
national policies
of development of several west african countries. Since
its creation, IMI has developped the following strategic
actions:
1) The designing
projects

and

installation

of

development

2) Building and running schools and training centers

3) Organizing seminars on the basics of shia islam for
thousands of people in from west african countries
4) Building of tens of mosques and islamic centers
5) Improving traditional islamic schools (daara)

through education and empowerment of teachers

6) Integrated projects of agricultural production and
7) transformation,
8) Promoting organic farming in rural areas
9) Promotion of the integration of the west African
shia populations
10)
Experience sharing with other organizations
IMI is designed to be an apolitical NGO rooted in a
framework of dialogue, information, reflexion and
research.

FIELDS Of INTERVENTION
1/ CULTURE AND EDUCATION
The organization counts on the impact of education in its
development projects. It is at the same time an essential
lever and
occupies a place of predilection in the development
policies of the
organization. It is used to fight against the depravity of
moral
values. IMI, by the means of education intend to fight
against
illiteracy Tens of school have been opened in several
areas in Senegal, Guinea Bissau and Mauritania.Many
books have also been published for the teachings of the
shia school of thought .
2/AGRICULTURE
To improve the agricultural and pastoral systems of
production
to generate incomes and to support food self
sufficiency.
To promote and sensitize the producers on the benefits
of
organic farming .
To sensitize the populations on the effect of some
practices
on the degradation of nature and the environment.
To fight against the rural migration and clandestine
immigration

3/ HEALTH
To sensitize the populations on the creation of
botanical
gardens and the safeguarding of plants and traditional
use
of those plants in medical treatment in order to create a
synergy between modern and traditional african
medicine.
Construction of medical infrastructures.
4/ SOCIAL ASPECT
Assistance to the underprivileged populations and
victims of
natural disasters.

Popularization
of
techniques
of
alternative
constructions
To sensitize opinion leaders on the prevention of
conflicts and
to promote peace .
Several conferences sets of themes of current events
to the
international level were carried out by the leadership
including:
Good governance, at the Mdicis Committee,
in
Rome, on
June 2009; Development and spirituality, at the
Himalayan
Institute, the USA, on July 2009; Conference on AIDS
and
Religion, in Senegal and Ivory Coast
Several programs were broadcasted on on national
Television as well as other private channels.The NGO is
now running its own private radio station in Senegal
