Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant/Hostess
In this position, assumed multiple responsibilities:
Bookkeeper:
• Responsible for completing daily, weekly, monthly sales reports. Also verification of waitstaff’s daily cash
deposits and finding waitstaff errors. Complete and make daily bank deposit.
• Conceived idea for and created comprehensive report of sales history of the business from opening day of business
to the present. Updated report on a monthly basis to reflect latest sales figures and also to highlight best months
and years in the business’ history. This report kept track of customer counts, sales and check averages from
month-to-month and year-to-year. As well as updating report on monthly basis, also performed year-end update of
report to reflect position of that year’s sales in ranking order from first year of business. This report became relied
upon by owner and management to help in preparing new budgets for coming year and in making projections for
anticipated business figures for upcoming months.
• Responsible for all cash and accounts receivables coming into business. This included responsibility for all billing
and record keeping of accounts from local inns, individual patrons with account privileges and private party
billings.
• Complete and make daily bank deposit.
Administrative Assistant:
• Composed and handled mailings of letters and correspondences from Owner to generate new business for
restaurant.
• Wrote and sent out letters for Owner to local Inns thanking them for past business and encouraging their continued
patronage of the restaurant.
• Designed and maintained database of names and addresses of over 1,700 individual entries. From this database,
approximately 300-400 birthday and anniversary cards were mailed out monthly with promotional incentives for
guests to visit “Windows on the Water”.
• Designed and developed customized menus for special functions and private parties. Designed birthday and
anniversary cards with restaurant logo for monthly mailings to database list of frequent diners.
• Designed special occasion flyers, brochures, “table tents”, and holiday flyers encouraging guests to frequent the
restaurant and informing patrons of upcoming events and holiday celebrations.

Hostess/Floor Manager:
• Greet and seat guests and attend to guests’ comfort and enjoyment.
• Act as liaison between management and guests in meeting guests’ special requests, complaints, suggestions, etc.
and take up special issues with management. Also advise waitstaff of VIP guests in the restaurant and advise them
of parties to whom VIP treatment and consideration is to be given.
• Create pleasant and welcoming atmosphere for guests to experience upon entering restaurant.
• Answer phones and took reservations for dining guests and large group functions.
• Responsible for ensuring building, cash and equipment were secure and everything was locked and turned off at
end of evening when performing “Closing” function.

(Dr. Peter C. Goldmark - President of CBS Laboratories from 1954 until 1971. Chief Television Engineer for CBS
and helped develop the LP record. Under Goldmark’s direction, CBS Laboratories invented more than 160 devices or
processes in the field of acoustics, television, phonograph recording and film reproduction. In 1971 he retired from
CBS to form Goldmark Communications, a subsidiary of Warner Communications, in order to “fulfill the promise of
telecommunications as the instrument for social change” and in conjunction with Fairfield University and HUD
started what became known as the “New Rural Society” Project.) Executive Secretary to
