SIRIO system components

In order to guarantee the maximum quality of SIRIO system results it's we must
meticulously follow the described procedure. It's essential that during needle insertion
phase the patient assumes the same thoracic cage position as during the CT scan.
Optional use of the respiratory gating device facilitates condition obtainment. In addition,
to minimize the tracking error is necessary to avoid needle deflection during the
registration and during the intervention.

Series sending/receiving
Send a volume of interest axial scan from the CT station to SIRIO. At the end of the
complete reception of the series, the system automatically moves in the state of
intervention needle registration.

7
Intervention Phase
Insert the operating sensitised needle within the guided support. Proceed with needle
insertion under SIRIO assistance and perform any abutment CT scans at the
interventionist's discretion.

6
Insertion direction setting
Fit the Tracking Tool onto the needle guide and direct it towards space around the area of
intervention to identifying the direction of insertion. Secure the tool to the patient's skin
with adhesive tape medical. Unlock the Tracking Tool without unblocking the needle
closing guide, by exerting a slight pressure on the clips.

5
Needle registration
Place the needle tip on one Patient Tool pivot, so that the needle tip is fully inserted into the
location. Tilt the needle, preventing flexure, so that all the 8 sphere, 4 on patient sensor
and 4 on needle, are the tracking sensor's range and no obstacles are located between
them. Wait for the video registration confirmation.

2
Postural marker positioning (optional)
Place adhesives markers for patient posture monitoring so that:
A. they are blocked as little as possible in during the operation phase
B. are sufficiently distant from one another and do not form symmetric shapes.

1
Patient Tool Positioning
Secure the Patient Tool on the patient with medical tape, taking care not to cover the
spheres and one registration pivot. The Patient Tool is mounted: A. approximately in the
same axial plane as the lesion in contralateral position; B. on rigid surfaces (bone, thorax);
C. at about 15 cm from the needle's point of insertion of the .

3
CT Scan
Execute the scan, making sure that the Patient Tool is completely included in the scan
area.
