LESSON SEQUENCE: Warn-up: Review End of WWI and discuss casualties. Question: What were the final outcomes of
WWI, which countries had the most financial losses? Which countries lost the most people (civilians and soldiers)
Think/Pair/Share: Students will write down their response, share with their neighbor then share with the class.
Students will participate in a whole group activity, the Treaty of Versailles simulation. There will be three groups of delegates
to represent the three main countries. Each group of delegates will discuss their goals for negotiation. Once each group has
agreed on the goals. Each member will form another small group to include all delegates from each country. Each group will
then negotiate and attempt to meet their original goals.
Next we will debrief and I will show a powerpoint indicating the actual provisions of the Treay of Versailles indicating that
some of the options on their simulation activity were some of the provisions handed to Germany.
REFLECTIONS: Students will then complete an exit ticket indicating something they learned from the activity and how they
would feel if the were a Germany citizen just discovering the provisions of the Treaty of Versailles.
