A major film studio is a production and distribution company that

releases a substantial number of films annually,
and consistently commands a significant share of box office revenue
in a given market?
The Big 5 are five different major corporations that own the ten
Hollywood movie studios. They include:
Warner Bros. Entertainment
Warner Brothers Entertainment is an American media company that
makes film and television, founded in 1923. In 2007 it was
calculated that Warner Bros. has a 19.7% of American/ Canadian
market share. It is a subsidiary of Time Warner, and has seven
subsidiaries of it's own, which include; Warner Bros. pictures, Warner
Bros. Animation, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Warner
Bros. home video, New Line Cinema, Castle Rock Entertainment, DC
Entertainment, and the former WB Television Network.
Paramount Entertainment
Paramount Pictures cooperation is a television production company
and film studio and motion picture distributor, consistently ranked as
one of the "Big Six" film studios of Hollywood. It is a subsidiary of US
media conglomerate Viacom. Paramount is a member of the Motion
Picture Association of America (MPAA). It has distributed several
successful film series, such as Transformers, Mission: Impossible, the
Marvel Cinematic Universe series (200811), Indiana Jones (1981
2008), The Godfather, Star Trek, Jack Ryan, Jackass, The Bad News
Bears, Beverly Hills Cop, "Crocodile" Dundee, Paranormal Activity,
Friday the 13th and G.I. Joe.
Walt Disney
The Walt Disney Studios multi-faceted film division produced some
groundbreaking films, such as Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs,
the first full-length animated movie, and Pinocchio, a film with
intricate levels of technical brilliance in animation, that made the
studio stand apart. Over the decades, Disney Studio introduced
numerous technologies in animation & live action films.
Disneys Steamboat Willie was the first animated film to have
synchronized sound & image, Flowers and Trees was the first in
the genre with three-strip Technicolor, and Fantasia was the first film
to use a multi-channel sound system called Fantasound.
20th Century Fox
Twentieth Century Fox is one of the biggest film cooperation's in the
world. It is an American production company, based in Los Angeles,
California. Previously, the company was a subsidiary of News

Corporation, but now its a subsidiary of 21st Century Fox. 20th The
studio has distributed various commercially successful films,
including Avatar, Ice Age, X-Men, Die Hard, Planet of the Apes, Night
at the Museum, and Fantastic Four, securing them their position as
one of the Big Six studios of Hollywood. As the first studio to reach
the $1 billion mark in gross domestic revenue in 2014#, and with
enormous earnings by the end of the year, the studios stunning
turnaround easily surpass its previous records

Universal
Universal is one of the biggest American production and distribution
industries in the world. Although Universal is a subsidiary of
Comcast, owned by NBC Universal; it also owns the most successful
British production company, Working Title, and is one of Hollywood's
"Big Five". Its production studios are at 100 Universal Citty Plaza
Driive in Universal City, California. Distribution and other corporate
offices are based in New York. Universal was founded in 1912 by the
German, Carl Laemmle, Mark Ditenfass and Charles O. Baumann.
Three of Universal Studio's classics include; Jaws (1975), E.T The
Extra-Terrestrial (1982), and Jurassic Park (1993) (all of which were
directed by Steven Speilberg) achieved box office records:each
became the highest-grossing film at the time of its initial release.
Sony Pictures Entertainment
Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) operates Columbia TriStar Motion
Picture Group, Screen Gems, Sony Pictures Classics, and TriStar
Pictures. The studio enjoyed its best year in terms of box-office
grosses in 2012, with its films collecting US$ 4.4 billion in ticket
sales. SPE has produced, distributed, or co-distributed successful
film series including Spider-Man, Men in Black, Underworld, and
Resident Evil.
