Introduction
Overview
Welcome to iPSTAR Broadband Satellite System. This document addresses
the configuration and set up for Broadband Satellite Service. The Satellite Terminal provides
IP backbone connection to the Internet.
The sleek and stylish Satellite Terminal, The Professional Series IPX-9200
is the next generation of iPSTAR Satellite terminal providing high performance
two-way connectivity for Internet access as well as a wide array of content delivery and other
multicast and interactive applications using the advanced iPSTAR Satellite Technology. It is
designed to interface with the iPSTAR Gateway and the iPSTAR forward and return satellite
link to the Ethernet Network. The iPSTAR platform incorporates the new Dynamic Link
Allocation (DLA) technology which automatically adjusts modulation, coding, and gain based
on the link environment (such as during rain) to achieve maximum availability.
The IPX-9200 is compatible with conventional Ku-Band satellites as well as the new multibeam iPSTAR Satellite. It can be used with either an Ethernet
Features
Flexible Data Routing to the 10/100 Fast Ethernet LAN
Incoming data and streams are easily routed to a network or server.
Full administration of incoming streams provides easy customization for a
wide variety of LAN environments.
Remote Management
All satellite parameters tuning and data handling can be controlled
and managed remotely via LAN or over the satellite. Options include
menu-driven command line interface and web-based monitoring
(by using http).
Automatic Startup and Recovery
Solid-state memory, a protected file system, and stored configuration
information ensures configuration integrity during initial boot and reboot
sequences due to power failure or network problems. Once booted, the
Satellite Terminal automatically tunes, and begins forwarding data
according to its stored routing configuration.
Reliability and Compatibility
The monitoring capabilities of the Satellite Terminal offer maximum
data integrity and tested with a variety of network configurations to
ensure compatibility across networks.

Getting Started
Things to Do

Caution:
The iPSTAR Satellite Terminal must be installed by
qualified iPSTAR Technicians. Please see your local
iPSTAR Service Provider for more information

The qualified iPSTAR technician will:

1. Unpack the container and check the contents of the package
2. Setup and connect the Outdoor Unit to the Satellite Terminal
3. Configure the Satellite Terminal using the LCD panel
4. After configuration, connect the Satellite Terminal to the network through
a switch.
Requirements
The following items are required to install the Satellite Terminal:
* iPSTAR Broadband Satellite Service
* Low Noise Block down converter (LNB) connected to the Satellite Terminal
through a coaxial cable (RG6) SAT RX
* Block Up Converter (BUC) connected to the Satellite Terminal through a

see the home
page.

You will see the following message:

Unable to connect to the Enterprise box web server.
Is the Enterprise Series powered up? It takes approximately 30 seconds after power up for
the Enterprise Series to start running.

Is the Ethernet cable plugged in?

If you use Ethernet are you using the right cable combination for your setup?
To use a direct connection between your PC and the Enterprise box, you should use
a crossover cable, to connect the PC to the Enterprise series box.
If you are using a hub or a switch to connect one or more PCs to the Enterprise box
you should use a patch cable to connect the PCs to the hub. If your hub has an Uplink port,
connect the Enterprise box to the uplink port with the purple cable that was provided with the
Enterprise box.
Did you change any network settings in the Enterprise box? If you changed the
Ethernet address you will no longer be able to use this desktop shortcut to reach the
Enterprise box instead:

Problem
Causes

Solutions

Sync. to Sat LED is not on.

1. Satellite Terminal is not properly synchronized with the iPSTAR
Network.
1. Check that Receive Cable connected to the back panel of the
Satellite Terminal is properly connected.
2. Check that Receive Frequency of your Satellite Terminal is
correct.
3. Try to shut down and restart the Satellite Terminal.
4. If the Sync to Sat is still not on, you should contact your system
provider.
Cannot login to the system.
1. Login packet that Satellite Terminal has sent might contain
errors when Gateway receives and decodes it.
2. Data blocks that Gateway has sent in response to login might
contain errors.
1. Check the weather condition (Heavy clouds, Rain, etc).
2. If the weather is clear but the problem persists, open a web
browser window and type in
http://<NetworkBoxEthernetIP>:5891/index.html. When the
page is loaded check that the number of CRC errors is not
increasing rapidly.
3. If the number of CRC errors is increasing rapidly, shutdown and
restart your Satellite Terminal and wait for Satellite Terminal to
AutoLogin again.
4. If you still cannot login, you should contact your system provider.

Problem
Causes

Client PC cannot make a connection to the Satellite Terminal.

1. IP Address and Netmask of either the Satellite Terminal or the
Client PC might be incorrect.
2. LAN Cable might be defective.

Solutions

1. Check the LAN Cable (connection, cable head, etc)

2. Check the IP Address and Netmask of Satellite Terminal and
Client PC.

Problem
Causes

Solutions

20
Client PC cannot make an Internet connection.
1. Internet site that the Client PC is attempting to connect might not
be functioning.
2. Satellite Terminal itself might not be logged in.
3. Connection to the Gateway might be affected by weather.
1. Check that the connection to the Gateway is established (still
logged in?)
2. Try and check the connection to the Gateway by typing the
command ping 192.168.1.1 at the command prompt.
3. If the result of the ping is successful but still cannot access the
Internet, check the Internet site you are trying to connect that it
is up and running (try connection from another PC)
4. If the web site is not defective, type the command tracert
<website name> at the command prompt and see where the
connection is not getting through and contact your system
provider.
