Nagios XI Activating Your License

The Industry Standard in IT Infrastructure Monitoring

Purpose
This document describes how to activate a Nagios XI license.

Target Audience
This document is intended for use by Nagios XI Administrators, Nagios Authorized Resellers, and implementation partners.

Activation Overview
If you are installing or upgrading to Nagios XI 2011, you are
required to activate your license key before you can access
certain features.
Activation is not required while you are using Nagios XI in the
60-day trial period. It is, however, required once your trial
expires and you purchase a license.
You will see an alert message in the Nagios XI interface
when license activation is required. An activation message
will appear in the header of the page.

Your activation status is also displayed in the License

Information page under the Admin interface.

Nagios XI Activating Your License

Accessing The Activation Screen
You can access the activation screen by clicking either:

Clicking the Activate your license now link the orange alert box
- or Clicking the Activate your license key link the License Information page

The activation screen will display your license key and the IP
address of the Nagios XI server. You will need this
information to obtain your activation key online.

Obtaining An Activation Key

To obtain an activation key, click the Get an activation key
link or visit:
http://www.nagios.com/activate
In order to obtain an activation key, you will have to provide:

Your license key

Your Nagios XI server IP address
Your customer number

If you do not know your customer number, contact the Nagios

sales team by email at sales@nagios.com and provide
them with your license key, name, and company name.
Your activation key will be provided once you submit the
required information. Copy the activation key to your
clipboard.

Nagios XI Activating Your License

Entering Your Activation Key
Paste your activation key in the Product Activation page of
Nagios XI and click the Activate button.

Once your activation key has been validated, your license

key will be activated and you will be able to access
previously restricted features of Nagios XI.

Reporting Problems
If you have problems activating your license key, you should contact the Nagios support team using the online forum at:
