SAN JOSE The newest public library in the Willow Glen neighborhood
of San Jose may not have as expansive
of collections the existing ones, but
that doesnt seem to bother its patrons
much. After all, the library isnt much
larger than a dollhouse and its patrons
arent a whole lot bigger themselves.
Thanks to the generosity of its agents
and the construction skills of its former
manager, Coldwell Banker Residential
Brokerages San Jose Main office has
opened the areas first Little Free Library at 1045 Willow Street near the
corner of Lincoln Avenue in the center
of the Willow Glen neighborhood.
The miniature library in front of the
brokerage offices provides a place where
children can trade books and meet
regularly. The concept is fairly simple:
Take a book and return a book. And its
part of a booming national movement
thats being lauded for encouraging
both reading and community.
Putting a Little Free Library in front
of the brokerage office was the idea
of former manager and current agent
John Scaglione. But it took some doing
to turn the idea into a reality. The price

was about $500 a cost that all of the

agents in the office pitched in to cover.
Scaglione used his construction
skills and creativity to turn the idea
into a beautiful miniature library. The
library box looks like a classic Coldwell
Banker office, complete with French
doors and windows, blue and white
paint and the company logo sign atop
the building.
The Little Free Library is open to
anyone. Members of the community
no matter what their age are invited to use this library as a resource
and stop by to pick up or drop off a
book or two. Coldwell Banker accepts
new or slightly used, good condition
and family-friendly books to place in
the library. All types of family-friendly
books are welcome, with a substantial
need for childrens literature.

Free Library, please visit Coldwell
