When I decided to come to Miami Valley Career Technology Center, I had no idea that it would

make an impact on my life. CTC has helped me grow academically, and socially. I had absolutely no
motivation for school before coming to CTC, but the friends I have made, and the compassionate staff I
have met completely changed school for me. I came from having no idea what to do after high school,
and not really caring, to having my road to success completely mapped out. I think I would make an
excellent recipient of the Department Scholarships.
If I had stayed at my home school, I dont think that I would be able to graduate. I absolutely
hated going to school. I had no motivation to do school work and my teachers didnt help me much when
I was confused. For instance, my transitional algebra teacher, Mr. Fultz, took the time to help me when I
didnt understand what we were learning. Thankfully, when I was lost, he would teach me a different
method that made more since to me. Without the great teachers, I never would have been able to be on
National Technical Honor society. CTC teachers gave me more motivation for learning and made me
want to be a better student.
Before coming to CTC I didnt really care about my future and had no goals. When I joined the
health careers lab, Mrs. Wiltshire showed me all potential that I have. When I got my STNA certification,
I was really proud of myself and realized I could actually have a future. I couldnt have done it without
Mrs. Wiltshire.
At my homeschool, I didnt have a good social life. I used to be very shy and suffered from social
anxiety. However, when I came to CTC I met a lot of new people. The girls in my lab are a diverse group
and we all have our differences, but we all share a common love for nursing. I have opened up more being
around people who are just like me. Not to mention, Ive gained friendships that will last a life time.
In conclusion, CTC has made me a better person. I think Im a perfect example of why CTC is a
great school. I have become a better leader and gained a lot of friendships. I think that I would be a good
recipient for the scholarships because I would positively represent Miami Valley Career Technology
Center.
