Function:
The transport of items of widely different
types and sizes.
The load carrier can be produced to match
requirements through the combination of
modular components: the powered trolley,
the free trolley, the connecting bar and the
loadbar. The load carriers can be stored in
line by buffering against each other or by
maintaining a fixed distance with the aid of
light or ultrasonic sensors or electrically
through division of the track into block
sections.
Technical features:
The load carrier of the electric overhead rail
conveyor is a so-called top runner. In this
type of carrier the drive and suspension
rollers roll along the top boom of the running
and suspension track. Guide rollers at the
side absorb lateral and torsional forces.
The design and structure of the electric
overhead rail conveyor load correspond to
VDI Guideline 3643 - the so-called C 1
Standard.

Function:
The track serves as the running and guide track
for the load carrier.
Technical features:
Double T profile of surface-treated aluminium.
The dimensions of the profile correspond to the
requirements of the VDI Guideline for electric
monorail conveyors.
All add-on components, such as track
connectors, busbars, suspension fittings and
control elements are connected to the track by
screwed or clamped connections. The positive
form locking of the connecting elements
guarantees stepless transitions at the joints in
the running surfaces, i. e. low wear on the
running surfaces of the drive wheels and
extremely smooth and quiet running of the
carriers.
Every 200 mm the track is furnished with a hole
for cables to pass through.
The track can be used with the same
dimensions for Systems 625 and 635.

Function:
The busbars serve both to supply power to the
load carrier and as the carrier medium for the
load carrier and system controls.
Technical features:
Busbars of the following manufacturers are used
for the SCHIERHOLZ electric monorail
conveying systems 625 and 635:
Overhead conductors FABA 100
Vahle U 10
Wampfler Programme 815
The copper busbars are individually insulated.
The insulation and shock-hazard protection
correspond to the standard specification VDE
470 and to the standard DIN 40050.
Depending on requirements, up to 8 sliding
contact conductors can be arranged in tiers.
The busbars are fitted to the side of the running
and suspension track. They are fastened in
position by clipping them into support clamps
especially adapted to the track.

SUSPENSION YOKE
Function:
Horizontally curved running and suspension
tracks for the load carriers to negotiate curves.
Technical features:
The horizontal curves are manufactured of the
same track material as the straight track
sections. The curve radius is 1000 mm. In the
standard version, each end of the horizontal
curve features a straight section of track with a
length of 200 mm for connecting the track
sections. This guarantees smooth transitions at
the joints between the sections.
The suspension fittings and control elements
also can be fastened to the horizontal curves in
the same way as to the straight track sections.

VERTICAL CURVE
ASCENDING TRAVEL TOP
CONNECTING TRACK
FOR VERTICAL CURVES TOP AND BOTTOM
VERTICAL CURVE
ASCENDING TRAVEL BOTTOM
Function:
Vertically curved running and suspension tracks
for ascending travel of the load carriers.
The use of vertical track curves instead of
vertical lifts makes for higher capacity and
shorter cycle times of the system.
Thus ascending travel is significantly more costefficient
Angles
Curve radius
R = 1690 mm
Technical features:
The horizontal curves are manufactured of coldrolled steel profiles and strips of thick-walled
steel plate. Afterwards, the surface of the profile
is galvanised. The connecting track between the
top and bottom vertical curves is also made of
galvanised steel.
The special design of the running and
counterpressure rollers enables the carrier to
climb ascents up to 90 without additional aids.

CONNECTOR PROFILE
JOINT
Function:
The track joint connects the track elements to
form a closed-circuit system.
Technical features:
The design of the track profile guarantees a
stepless transition of the running and guiding
surfaces of the track.
The joint is a positive form locking connection
and can be disconnected.
The profile is produced from extruded material.
To connect short track sections, it is also
possible to produce special connectors,
including ones that cover two joints at once.

EXPANSION JOINT
Function:
The expansion joint compensates movements of
the whole conveyor system or of the factory hall
or the steel structure.
Technical features:
The expansion joint is necessary if differences
in temperature arise during operation or through
heating of the building or if the conveyor system
is routed through two buildings which do not
share a common foundation. The travel stroke
of the expansion joint is about 10 mm. If
greater differences are to be expected,
additional expansion joints must be integrated
into the track.
The expansion joint runs at an oblique angle to
the direction of travel and thus permits a gentle,
trouble-free transition between track sections;
this reduces stress on the running and
suspension rollers.
The expansion joint is manufactured of the

LIMIT SWITCH
LIMIT SWITCH
Track switch shown here as right-handed version
Function:
Track switches are branching elements to
merge and divert load carriers into or out of
different circuits or track sections within an
electric monorail conveyor track system.
Technical features:
The track switches are designed as two-way
switches for merging and diverting in both
directions of travel. The engineering design of
the track switch corresponds to VDI Guideline
3643 (C 1 Standard). The unit is composed of
three components:
? the track switch base structure
? the geared motor with crank drive
? the busbars of the relevant type and
number
The individual components are designed as
modules and can be taken from the track switch
construction kit.
The outer frame of the track switch is made of a
single aluminium profile. The drive power is
provided by a geared motor with a crank drive.
The current position of the track switch is

Function:
The suspension fitting serves to fasten the
running and suspension track to the ceiling or to
the supporting structure.
Technical features:
The core element of the suspension fitting is the
suspension yoke. This can be hooked into the
track at any point and screwed tight.
A safety lug on the fastening plate of the yoke
prevents the track from slipping off if the screw
connection were to break; at the same time it
keeps the connection free of lateral forces.
Depending on the height of the system, the
suspension yoke is connected to the steel
supporting structure or to the ceiling via a
tubular construction or via a threaded spindle.
Screw connections in the suspension fitting
permit simple height adjustment of the track. Any
subsequent sagging of the track can also easily

be compensated.
The suspension fitting ensures compliance with
the VDI Guideline 3643 in respect of the minimum
construction height of the suspension of 530 mm
(bottommost point of the travel track and
bottommost point of the supporting structure).
