Primary responsibility consisted of the total management and leadership of all


of Perioperative Services, also, including Endoscopy and the Chemo Infusion
Department. Chosen to participate in the Perioperative Value Creation Team
whose focus was to implement cost saving initiatives for surgical service
throughout the corporation with a targeted cost saving projection of over 10
million.
Provided leadership and management to over 125 clinical and allied health
team members including PAT, SPD, Surgery, PACU, Endoscopy, Chemo Infusion
and PICC with a positive financial variance while leading two facilities including
an acute hospital Perioperative Service Department and a hospital based
Ambulatory Surgical Center attached to a Level 1 trauma center.

Effectively implementation through Value Creations Block Schedule, Realistic
Scheduling, Turnover Time and First On Time Start (FCOTS). Improve FCOTS,
with my team, from 34% of the cases starting on time to 88% of the FCOTS.
Lead the corporation in FCOTS improvement. Decreased turnover time from 35
minutes to 25 minute with the corporate goal of 30 minutes.
Implemented infection control processes to decrease total SSI to less than 1.5%
by utilizing Zenx all of the surgical suites each night, trialing hospital laundry
scrubs. Core Measure focus for On time administration of pre-op antibiotics
and the correct antibiotic for the correct procedure. Staff participated in the
Irrisept pilot for all general surgery procedures with a significant decrease in
surgical site infections.
Successfully collaborated and serve on a multidisciplinary team to develop and
implement the use of the World Health Organization (WHO) checklist for the
PACU and surgical areas with support and approval from Medical Staff Services.
Implemented an OR Material Management Supply cost reduction committee
consisting of a multi-disciplinary focus team that was able to decrease
department supplies and inventory by 100K.
Execution of multiple capital projects within the organization to include
relocation of the Endoscopy department, staff and services to within the
Perioperative department.
Identified noncompliance in SPD and brought the area into compliance in
preparation for JCAHO.
