ABSTRACT
The industrial training at Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd starts from 12 th
January 2015 until 30th April 2015. On the dates, I have gain so many experience and this
have become my learning process. As a student at College of Poly-Tech Mara (Kuala Lumpur

branch) I want to say that this training program is a good opportunities for me to learn new
things, new culture, and new environment. Thank you to Metrology Corporation Malaysia
Sdn Bhd for giving me the chance to undergo industrial training in this company. The training
is teach me how to manage employee leave likes annual leave, unpaid leave, sick leave and
emergency leave, interview session, failing / key in data and how to write a proper letter for
new staff, leave without paid and branch exchange. It is not only to gain experience of
technical practice but also to look at management practices and to interact with co- workers. I
also learned how to work in an organization and team, the importance of timely, maximum
commitment of interest, and the importance of spirits. In my opinion, I've got a lot of
knowledge and experience needed to succeed in this internship and also for a future
workplace. As I assigned as a normal employee and the company want me treated as an
employee not as a student. My industrial supervisor and the other colleague help me a lot in
completing for every task given. Therefore, I want to thank people who contributed to my
final report which are guided by the Academic Supervisor Miss Fauziah Binti Yusof and the
Industrial Supervisor Miss Nor Salwa Binti Remlee who have helped me in matters that
related to my internship. Thank you to all the lecturers that have taught me as a student in
College of Poly-Tech MARA (Kuala Lumpur branch) in Diploma Human Resource
Management. I have learn to be responsible employee regarding to my duties and gain many
experience for my future, at the same time I have follow the company rules and regulation as
a student and internship student. I have learnt that punctuality is important and most at times I
have to produce a quality work within the duration given. Every task must be finished with
the time wisely and proactively. I am very thankful to Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn
Bhd and all employees who provide the platform to complete my internship successfully,
especially thanks to Ms Nor Salwa Binti Remlee, Executive Human Resources and other staff
in this company. At last, I express my deepest gratitude to all those who contributed directly

my industrial training in Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd in Mukim Batu, Kuala
Lumpur. The purpose of conducting this study is to fulfill the requirement for the Diploma in

SUMMARY OF TRAINING
In this industrial training, students are disclosed with a whole lot of new things and
knowledge. Apart from practicing what I had learnt in college, students also have the chance
to experience it by their self by doing the assignments given to them according to respective
course. By doing that, students are able to further increase their confidence upon entering the
real working world.
On the other hand, student had to obey every rule and regulation that stated by the
firm and need to be on time to come to work. This could educate the students to be more
disciplined and more aware of time and also make the students to be familiar with working
hours when they go for work later. Besides that, during the industrial training students will
expose with real work situations which means I need to have a good communication with
people and learnt to respect with each other. Task that need to completed with group give a
lot of challenges because we need to deal with other people opinions and learn how to get the
decisions that agreed by all teammates.

Experience Gained
Industrial training program is a compulsory program that every final year students
must undergo for four (4) months in order to fulfill the requirement to get a diploma. The
industrial training program is held to show about the situation of the real working
environment. Students can choose their own company for industrial training. So I choose the
Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd as a place for me to gain experience on Human
Resource Management work.
In this company, I got a full basic knowledge as a Human Resource worker. I learned
how to conduct an interview for a new staff in this company. This situation is really helping
me in order to have an interview in future. Besides that, I also learn how to write a formal
letter likes an application letter and offer letter to recruit a new staff in Metrology
Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd. This task definitely will help me to improve my writing
skills, grammar and vocabulary. In this company also, I had learnt how to manage the
company document. I need to arrange all document in their own file and it will be easier for
any worker to find the document and refer the document.
Furthermore, in this company also I have learnt on how to manage an employees
salary. Employees salary is based on their overtime, allowances, KWSP, SOCSO, PCB,
Angkasa, Pinjaman Perumahan, Tabung Haji, Zakat, Koperasi, and repayment.
Then, I will key in their salary on Payroll System. After that, I also have to learn on how to
do a KWSP, SOCSO, and PCB. For KWSP, I need to key in the data on KWSP webpage. For
a SOCSO and PCB, I need to write on their form.
Lastly, for the major experience that I have gained in this company is about a
communication with a top of management and another worker. What I have learnt about a
communication is how we communicate with them. I need to have a good language and a

good body language when talk to them especially to the Board of Directors and Top
Management. I need to avoid myself from a bad communication because it will be an attitude
problems and work environment automatically will be changed. That is the reason why a
good communication is needed.

The Industrial Training program has three (3) main objectives:

To give students the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired
in a real-life work situation.

To give students work experience while they are studying their chosen subject.

To expose students to the work environment, common practices, employment


opportunities and work ethics in the relevant field.

The objectives of report enables the students:

To provide a work document effectively

To produce students that responsible for their work by providing enough evidential

documents that related to work.

To expose the students on how to provide a proper document.

To build self-confidence in the student while providing the document.

To complete the prerequisite for the student to pass industrial training College of

Poly-Tech Mara (Kuala Lumpur branch).

Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd (MCM) was incorporated with the sole
objective of providing the verification and re-verification services for all weighing and all
measuring instruments use for trade in Malaysia. The Company commenced operations on 4 th
April 2005. Before that date, this service is made by Metric Unit, Ministry of Domestic Trade
and Consumer Affairs.
All weighing and measuring instruments use for trade need to be verified first before
use and re-verified once every twelve months thereafter as stipulated by the Weight and
Measures Act 1972. It is an offence to use weighing or measuring instrument without valid
verification or re-verification.
MCM has achieved the target set by the government. Apart from an increase in the
number of weighing and measuring instruments verified and re-verified, the company
managed to improve further the level of service provided. Waiting time has been reduced
significantly which benefits the owners of weighing and measuring instrument as well as the
repairers. Hence, the level of service is further improved.

Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd was established on 4 th April 2005. This
company has three (3) regional manager, five (5) region, thirty four (34) branches with two
hundred and ten (210) staff. Besides that, Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd is runs
more on services. There are seven (7) services: Verification and Re-verification at 34 MCM offices
Owners of weighing and measuring instruments can bring their instruments
personally or through their agents such as weighing and measuring instrument
repairers to any of Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd 34 offices for
verification of the new equipment as well as re-verification of their instruments when
the effective date is about to expire. Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd will
endeavor level best to do the verification or re-verification.
Verification and Re-verification at Customer Premises
For heavy weighing and measuring instruments not moveable, our staff will
undertake the services upon receiving official request from the owner or their agent.
Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd will response immediately or on the next
working day after receiving the official request. Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn
Bhd will endeavor to do the verification or re-verification not later than 5 working
days after receiving the official request. Examples of such instruments are the
weighbridges in factories and pumps at petrol station.

Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd also undertake to do the services at


owner's premises for small and light but highly sensitive weighing and measuring
instrument.
Stamping Station
Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd will visit at pre-determine dates to do
the services for the convenience of the owners of weighing and measuring instrument
for suburban, villages and islands.
Issuing of Certificate
A certificate will be issue to every instrument having passed the necessary
verification or re-verification tests signifying the instrument is fit for trade used.
ISO 17025 Test Report
Upon request, an ISO 17025 test report on the weighing and measuring instrument
verified or re-verified will be issued.
Government Equipment
Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd also undertake the services for all
weighing and measuring instruments belong to the federal government, state
government, municipalities and local councils.

OVERVIEW OF THE TRAINING


WEEK 1 (12th JANUARY 2015 16th JANUARY 2015)
On 12th January 2015 until 13th January 2015, I have undergone my industrial training
at Seacera Group in admin, sales and logistics department. Because of it is not same in a job
scope I do a replacement to Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd. I have walk in into
Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd as an internship student in Human Resource
department. A short briefing with my industrial supervisor, Miss Nor Salwa Binti Remlee
about the job scope and introduce me to all staff. Besides that, I need to sign up a Yahoo
Messanger to easily communicate with staff in Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
First task that I was been given from my industrial supervisor is failing the document. I need
to rearrange the document to make easier for other workers to find the document. On the last
day of this week, the task that I have been given is to do and key in the EA form and it must
be submit before March 2015. I just do a basic salary and Perlarasan Tunggakan only.
WEEK 2 (19th JANUARY 2015 23th JANUARY 2015)
In this week, the task that I was been given to continue do EA form but just do
allowances, PCB, KWSP, and bonus only. I need to fail the entire document in their file. I
also have made a call to inform staffs that receives a PERKESO letter. Then, a short briefing
with my industrial supervisor on how to key in KWSP contributions staff in KWSP webpage.
Before I key in the KWSP contributions, I need to log in first at KWSP webpage. Choose the
contributions month before key in the data. After that, I can key in the KWSP contributions in

the webpage and saved. In last day of this week, I have do and write the name of staff in
Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd in PCB form.

WEEK 3 (26th JANUARY 2015 30th JANUARY 2015)


I am starting this week by updates the collecting diary staffs from all the Metrology
Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd branches. I need to arrange them by region. I have continued
do EA form and it is just summary total only. Then, I have photostate and make a copy of
personal detail form to give to all staff in Headquarter of Metrology Corporation Malaysia
Sdn Bhd. I have made a call to Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd branch (Kangar,
Seberang Prai, Pulau Pinang, and Taiping) to ask them to give their personal details form. I
also have made a call to Johor Bharu branch to ask the branch manager to do a confirmation
Non-smoking letter. At the end of this week, I have updates the pay slip for all staffs in
Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd and fax the Good Service Tax (GST) form to other
company to ask their confirmation of GST registration date and registration number.
WEEK 4 (2nd FEBRUARY 2015 6th FEBRUARY 2015)
On 2nd February 2015 is a Wilayahs Day holiday and on 3 rd February 2015 is a
Thaipusams Day holiday. This week is starting by continue key in the KWSP contributions
in KWSP webpage and followed by do a checklist allowances staff in Metrology Corporation
Malaysia Sdn Bhd. It is just an overtime and KWSP part only. I was been given a document
to file them. This week is ended by made a call to Seberang Prai branch to ask the new staff
to post the personal details form.

WEEK 5 (9th FEBRUARY 2015 13th FEBRUARY 2015)


This week was started by key in a data of new staff in Metrology Corporation
Malaysia Sdn Bhd webpage and I have print personal details form in Pulau Pinang branch.
Besides that, I also key in the KWSP contributions staff in KWSP webpage. Plus, list the
name of staff in Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd who do not have Koperasi. In
the middle of this week, I have edit a letter to Mrs. Siti Hajar Binti Che Daud to inform her
about her temporary placement at Kuala Krai branch and made a call to Puan Norhafisah to
ask about her maternity leave. My week was ended by made a call to Jabatan Tenaga Kerja to
reset a password log in. I also made a call to all Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd
branch to ask the branch manager to email the record of holiday form in Year 2014. I have
printing the document ASEAN pre-package Common Requirement Handbook. My industrial
supervisor was give me her username and password of webmail in Metrology Corporation
Malaysia Sdn Bhd webpage to check all the candidates resume for an interview.
WEEK 6 (16th FEBRUARY 2015 20th FEBRUARY 2015)
I have been started my week by filtering the candidates resume and take them based
on engineering and science student only. After filtering the candidates resume, I need to
classified them based on ages, qualifications, and gender. I need to email the candidates
resume to Mrs. Najwa Binti Khalid. After that, my industrial supervisor was ask me to
classified all panel clinic based on the name of clinic address, telephone and fax number.

Then, I need to classified all panel clinic based on branches and region and email to my
industrial supervisor. It is my last task for this week before two day holiday of Chinese New
Year on 19th February 2015 until 20th February 2015.

WEEK 7 (23th FEBRUARY 2015 27th FEBRUARY 2015)


In this week, I have been do and key in all staff in Metrology Corporation Malaysia
Sdn Bhd holiday from January until December in Microsoft Excel 2010. I have opened a new
file for all staffs holiday form. This week was become an interview week on 24 th February
2015. I have photostate their identity card (IC) and license of candidates that attend to
interview. Besides that, in this week I have updates Pecahan for January 2015 and Alat &
Fi for January 2014 and January 2015. Email the Pecahan January 2015 to my industrial
supervisor. I do punch and failing Koperasi from June 2014 until January 2015. Last but
not last, I have fill in PTPTN form in February 2015 for staff. My weekdays ended by make a
call to candidates interview that has been accepted to come for training in Metrology
Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Kuala Lumpur branch).
WEEK 8 (2nd MARCH 2015 6th MARCH 2015)
This week was started by do and checks all resume in Metrology Corporation
Malaysia Sdn Bhd webmail. Filtering the resume and take the resume based on engineering
and science student only. After that, I need to classified the resume based on ages,
qualifications, and gender. Then, I have key in the list of bank recon from May 2014 until
January 2015. I have translate the language of interview letter from malay to english. List the
name of candidates interview and update payslip for February 2015 in Metrology
Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd was ended my weekdays.

WEEK 9 (9th MARCH 2015 13th MARCH 2015)


To start this week, I was email to Miss Marinie the bank recon from May 2014 until
January 2015. My industrial supervisor was ask me to open up the Metrology Corporation
Malaysia Sdn Bhd webmail to check whether candidates interview give a confirmation to
attend or not for an interview. Then, I have updates a list name from all Metrology
Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd to email the panel clinic. In this week, I have learnt on how to
key in the staff salary in Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd in Payroll System. On 12 th
March 2015, industrial supervisor and I went to Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN)
Klang. I was made a call to all Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhds panel clinic to ask
their email and edit the list name of panel clinic. I was email list name of staff in Metrology
Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd to panel clinics. On a last day of this week, I have registered a
new staff in Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd webpage (E-HR). I also key in the
KWSP contributions for April 2015 in KWSP webpage.
WEEK 10 (16th MARCH 2015 20th MARCH 2015)
In this week, I have started my week by fax the list name of staff in Metrology
Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd to panel clinics. I have do a salary increases for all staff and
failing the staffs leave in Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd. I also have done and
check the KWSP contributions in KWSP webpage. Besides that, I wrote a letter to Mr.
Ubaidullah and Mrs. Hamizah to give a feedback about the branch exchange application. By

email to candidates interview for come interview on 26 th March 2015, write a PCB form for
all staff in Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd and do a list name all candidates
interview for attendance was ended for this week.

WEEK 11 (23th MARCH 2015 27th MARCH 2015)


This week was start by check the webmail whether candidates interview give a
feedback to come or not to interview session on 26th March 2015. Then, I was updates list
name of staff in Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd for April 2015. I have do a
separate and list the manager and verification officer in Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn
Bhd for Financial Year 2015/2016 and email to Encik Ahmat Sholihan. Besides that, I was
fax the Good Service Tax (GST) form to all panel clinics. For the end of this week, I have
wrote a letter to Miss Nusaibah Binti Sulaiman and Mr. Faiz Izzuddin Bin Nohadi to inform
them to attend for training at Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Kuala Lumpur
branch). I was fax the GST form to LKL Sandakan and Sirim Berhad.
WEEK 12 (30th MARCH 2015 3th APRIL 2015)
This week was started by email the record of annual leave in Metrology Corporation
Malaysia Sdn Bhd for Year 2015 to Miss Nor Aqma Binti Mazli. I have updates PCB and
PTPTN file for Year 2014 and followed by punch and failing feedback Good Service Tax
(GST) form in panel clinics file. Then, I have do and key in staff salary in Metrology
Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd for March 2015 in Payroll System. On the evening of 1 st April
2015, I need to be a receptionist because the receptionist was on MC. Make a call to Miss
Nurul Ain Binti Ahmad Zamri to ask her to email Surat Pendua to my industrial supervisor
was ended my week.

WEEK 13 (6th APRIL 2015 10th APRIL 2015)


In this week, I have made a call to Khairul Anwar and Asma Mohd Salleh to ask them
to email Surat Pendua to my industrial supervisor. Fax the Surat Pembatalan to KWSP
branch and email list name of staff in Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd for 2015 to
Miss Nor Aqma Binti Mazli. Then, my industrial supervisor was asking me to search and
download an accident claim form from PERKESO webpage. I have do a photostate offer
letter Mrs. Siti Azliyah and give it to miss Nor Aqma Binti Mazli. Second day before end of
this week, I have made a call to Allson Kelana Putra Nilai to ask Mr. Razak email the
quotation to my industrial supervisor. Fax the Kastam letter, SSM form, and account
statement to Majlis Daerah Manjung and fax the Kastam letter, GST form to Kumpulan
Semesta Sendirian Berhad was ended for this week.
WEEK 14 (13th APRIL 2015 17th APRIL 2015)
Week fourteen (14) was start by make a call to all Metrology Corporation Malaysia
Sdn Bhd branch to ask them the total of operation with KPDNKK from January until March
2015 and write a name of new staff in Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd in SOCSO
registration form. Then, I made a call to Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd branch
(Melaka, Miri, Muar, Kuala Lumpur) to ask them the total of operation with KPDNKK from
January until March 2015. I have updates a slideshow of JBLM by using Microsoft
Powerpoint 2013. I also have do a list of standard weight and kren lorry in Microsoft Excel

2013 with Mr. Ahmat Sholihan and Mr. Muhammad Aswan. Copy and paste in Microsoft
Powerpoint 2013. Besides that, edit the sticker of Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd
is one of my job for this week. On 16 th April 2015, Board of Directors and I went to
Kementerian Putrajaya for JBLM meeting with my industrial supervisor and Mrs. Najwa
Binti Khalid. The end of this week, Mr. Ahmat Sholihan and I was discuss and do
Pertukaran Pegawai & Pengurus Cawangan bagi Kewangan Tahun 2015/2016 in Microsoft
Excel 2013 and Microsoft Powerpoint 2013. I had email the Pertukaran Pegawai &
Pengurus Cawangan bagi Kewangan Tahun 2015/2016 to Mr. Ahmat Sholihan, Mr.
Muhammad Aswan, Mrs. Mawarini Binti Ibrahim, my indurstrial supervisor, and Miss Nor
Aqma Binti Mazli.
WEEK 15 (20th APRIL 2015 24th APRIL 2015)
In this week, make a call to Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Ipoh and
Taiping branch) to ask the branch manager bring along the supporting document petty cash
during meeting was start my week. Then, I have edit a letter to all staff that need to transfer
from their branch to another branch and email to my industrial supervisor. After that, I have
written SOCSO contributions for April 2015. Besides that, I have made thirty (30) copies of
six set document for a meeting. Updates file in Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd
was ended for this week.
WEEK 16 (27th APRIL 2015 30th APRIL 2015)
It was started by write a letter for Mrs. Lelawati from Metrology Corporation
Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Raub branch) to inform that she will be a branch manager. Then, I have
updates the payslip for all staff in Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd for April 2015
and fax the Kastam letter to Miss Jeanny. Besides that, in this week I need to prepare a flow
chart of types unethical terms of service by using Microsoft Word 2013 and paste it on

Microsoft Powerpoint 2013. On a last day, I have scan and email the Kastam letter to Mr.
Yong. Edit a sticker for Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd with Mr. Ahmat Sholihan
and Mr. Muhammad Aswan. Last but not last, I have made a call to candidates interview to
inform that they need to attend an interview on 6 th May 2015 (Wednesday). Lastly, I have
email to them the details for interview likes placement, time and what should bring along.
DETAILS OF EXPERIENCE
By doing all the tasks given in this industrial training was giving me a lot of
experiences. First, I have experience gained in computer skills. Do training at Metrology
Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd was gives me opportunity to use quite a few of new skills and
learned how to use photocopy machine such as scan, fax, printing and by pass system. In eHR system can overview the staff in this company regarding the personal details. The system
quite complicated, it allows monitoring staff performance, production productivity and
progress. My typing speeds also have been improved. Besides that, experience that I have
been gained in this industrial training is teamworks skill. We help each other in every task
we conducted. Some of the task we perform it together. I was able to contribute my ideas and
insights in our works. Then, the major experience that I have been gained in this training is
communication skill. I able to improved my communication skill especially in english
language which is spoken and written. I learn how to communicate with top and lower level.
Furthermore, I also can improve my self-management and self-confident. Lastly, I am able to
improve my time management, more punctual in work. I also learned how to wear
appropriate attire to work and manage my appearance well.

SWOT ANALYSIS
The SWOT Analysis is conducted based on the direct and indirect experience that I
have undergone during this four month of my industrial training at Metrology Corporation
Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
Strengths
The first strength of this company is it provides real industry working
environment whereby gives me chances to work in real working. The training enables
me to experience the real industry workplace environment and working process under
the company process. This situation gives advantage before start real work. The
second strength is it provides new knowledge and experience. Throughout the training
period I have able to gain a lot of new knowledge and valuable experiences which
related to conduct employee, doing payroll, update staff leave and other related aspect
of Human Resourse Department.
Weaknesses
Weakness in this company has lack of punctuality. During my training, the
staff at Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd was come late to work especially
Senior General Manager in Corporate Service. It is because of this company did not
have a punch card. They only need to sign when they come to work and when they
want to go home.
Opportunity
The opportunity is it provides easiness for my future career whereby in
industrial training I work as Human Resource Training Executive. This situation gives

me a new experience to use at another place when I got a job. Besides that, for those
who are showing a good performance and attitude will be offer to be a permanent staff
at Metrology Corporation Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
Threats
There is a threat in this company which is conflict with co-workers that have a
bad attitude. Besides that, the supervisor also quite bias with other internship students.
For example, she will give full attention for those who are close with her. But for
other student that not so close with her, they will be ignored until there is new task
that need to give to the student.

CONCLUSION
They are great opportunity having an internship program in Metrology Corporation
Malaysia Sdn Bhd. The experience that I have gained during sixteen (16) weeks it is widen
up my minds on what is mean by working environment. I have covered the knowledge of
human resource during my time in this company. Through this training, I have learned
technical and non-technical stuff. About non-technical stuff, I learned such as way managing
the relationship between workers and boss, the right attitude in solving problem, and the way
to deal with clients.
From safety briefings, I managed to follow all safety procedure and regulation set by
the organization. I complete my training program without accident and completed the task
given in time. I learned how to recruit new workers for this company, sending offer letter to
them, conduct an interview and how to deal with client and so much more. All of this
learning make me realize that being a human resource worker quite interested although a lot
of stress coming through.
This task really teaches me how to have a good communication with other people and
improved my English. The most memorable parts that I gained during my training are the true
friendship express form the staff and my colleagues. Internship at Metrology Corporation
Malaysia Sdn Bhd will be one of my precious moments. Thank you.
