Summary of Alarm
Messages
Alarm messages are the information prompt for the problems or
faults that occur during the operation of the ZXWN MGW. Usually,
alarm messages last a time and do not disappear until the
corresponding problems or faults are cleared. Based on severity,
alarm messages can be classified into 4 levels: critical alarms,
major alarms, minor alarms and warning. The alarm severity can
be modified in the NMS as required. Table 4 shows all the
possible alarm description that may occur in the NMS of the
MGW. For the alarms at different levels, different measures
should be taken. In the case of critical and major alarm
messages, contact ZTE Corporations local office as soon as

Messages
Notification messages refer to some normal events (or abnormal
events) during system running, such as module power-on,
active/standby changeover, and successful startup of the
database. As ordinary prompts or alerts, notification messages
do not need restoration.
Notification messages are not classified into levels.
Table 5 shows the summary of the notification messages.

1. This notification may occur on the OMP board or the billingrelated board.
2. There may be too many useless versions on the OMP board.
3. On the billing-related board, usually a large amount of billing
information is saved on the disk due to overtime interruption
of the communication link between the foreground and the
background.

1. The port rate is incorrect. The port rate can not exceed the
maximum band width of each kind of ports when a port is
created.
2. The port is configured with the PVC when it is deleted.
3. The MAXVPI or MAXVCI value of the port is illegal.
4. The amount of PVCs of the board exceeds 62K.
Processing
method
1. Check whether the port rate is correct. The port rate can not
exceed the maximum band width of each kind of ports when
a port is created (Units: Kbits/s.NP:(0,622000],Optical:
(0,155000],IMA: (0,64000]).
Y-> Goto Step 2.
N-> Configure the bandwidth parameter again. If a port is
successfully created after the the port parameters are reconfigured, end the alarm handling. If port creation fails,
goto Step 2.
2. When modifying the port rate, the newly-set port rate must
not be lower than the currently used bandwidth.
Y-> Configure a larger one. If the rate is successfully
modified after the re-configuration, end the alarm handling.
If not, goto Step 3.
N-> Goto Step 3.
3. Check whether there is PVC configured on the port when the
port is deleted.
Y-> Delete it first. If the port can be deleted successfully
after the PVC is deleted, end the alarm handling. If not, goto
Step 4.
N-> Goto Step 4.
4. Check whether the MAXVPI and the MAXVCI values are legal.
The values must be nth power of 2 on the IMAB and the APBE.
For the MAXVCI, 6=<N<=14; for the MAXVPI on the UNI
port, 1=<N<=8; for the MAXVPI on the NNI port, 1=<N<=9.
Y-> Goto Step 5.
N-> Modify them. If the port can be configured successfully
after modification, end the alarm handling. If not, goto Step
5.
5. Check whether the value of MAXVCI multiplying MAXVPI on
all ports is less than 62K.

located is configured with a CLKG board, check it. If no CLKG
board is configured, check the CLKG board that the clock
cable on the back of UIM board is connected to) to see
whether the indicator on the CLKG panel providing the clock
to this board is in the "TRACE" status.
