Increase Aero Peek Speed


Aero Peek is a useful feature that lets you see through all your open windows
to your desktop as long as your cursor is hovered over the bottom right corner
of your screen. By default, there will be a slight delay of about half a second
before the desktop is shown. This tweak will remove that delay to instantly
show the desktop when your cursor is there.
Go to the Start menu and type in regedit to search for it, then run it.
a. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows >
CurrentVersion > Explorer and click on Advanced.
b. On the right panel, right-click and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value and
name it DesktopLivePreviewHoverTime.
c. Right-click the newly created registry and select Modify. Choose Decimal
and enter a Value Data of 1, which means Aero Peek will activate in 1
millisecond.
2. Increase Taskbar Preview Speed
When you hover your cursor over a taskbar icon, a preview will be shown,
thereby enabling you to choose the correct window to navigate to. Were now
going to tweak it so that the preview will come up faster, eliminating the
default 1-second delay.
a. Run Regedit.exe and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Control Panel
and click on Mouse.
b. On the right panel, look for MouseHoverTime and right-click to Modify it.
c. Select Decimal and enter a Value Data of 1, which means when you hover
your cursor over a taskbar icon, itll take just 1 millisecond for it to show
the preview.
3. Increase Taskbar Preview Speed
In Windows 8, you will see small box when you roll over the arrow on taskbar
icons. But this process takes some delay time to see preview of running
programs. The standard time is 400 milliseconds. So follow simple steps to
increase taskbar previews Speed.
a. Open Run and Type regedit and click Ok to open registry editor.
b. In the registry editor, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Microsoft
Windows CurrentVersion Explorer Advanced
c. Now Right click on right pane and Click New DWORD (32-bit) Value. Now
enter ExtendedUIHoverTime name of the new DWORD.
d. Now double click on ExtendedUIHoverTime and mark Decimal in Base
section. Now enter 400 in value data and click Ok.
4. Increase Context Menu Speed
By default, the context menu will expand when your cursor hovers over it,
after a short delay. Applying this tweak will enable Windows to show an
expandable context menu faster or almost instantly whenever your cursor
hovers over it.

a. Run Regedit.exe and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Control Panel


and click on Desktop.
b. On the right panel, look for MenuShowDelay and right-click to Modify it.
c. Select Decimal and enter a Value Data of 1, which means when your cursor
hovers over an expandable context menu, itll take 1 millisecond for it
expand.
5. Switch Active Windows With Mouse Cursor
In the Ease of Access Center, theres a feature that allows you to activate a
window by hovering over it with the cursor. This allows users to view all their
open windows swiftly without the need for clicking the mouse. This feature is
especially handy for trackpad users as they wont have to tap on their
trackpad to activate a window in the background. A simple Regedit hack can
also increase or shorten the delay when activating windows. To do this,
a. Run Regedit.exe and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Control Panel
and click on Desktop.
b. On the right panel, right-click on ActiveWndTrkTimeout and select Modify.
c. Select Decimal and change the Value Data to something youre
comfortable with. The number you enter is calculated in milliseconds.
6. Disable Time-Wasting Animations
Both Windows 8 and 8.1 come with many animations that make transitions
and everything else look beautiful. However, these animations not only eat
into your computers performance, but also take extra milliseconds to
complete. Heres how to disable them completely.
a. Open up File Explorer and right-click anywhere in the window and select
Properties.
b. On the left panel, click on Advanced system setting and under the
Performance subtitle, click on Settings.
c. Youll then see the Performance Options with all the animations you can
disable. For the best performance, uncheck all of them.
7. Increase Menu Speed(Speed Up Double Click To Open Programs)
When you double click on any programs and menus then it will take some
delay time to open. So follow instructions and simple steps to increase menu
speed in Windows.
a. In the registry editor, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER Control Panel
Desktop
b. Now find MenuShowDelay and double click to open MenuShowDelay.
c. Now enter value under 400 milliseconds and Click Ok.
8. Disabling Low Disk Checking To Speed Up Your PC
If your all disk are full and there are low space available then appears a
warning from Windows. Windows continually check your disk space that not
depends on your disk space. If there are lots of free space available in your

disk then the checking process is running. So follow steps to disabling low disk
checking and increase your Windows 8 PC speed.
a. Open Registry Editor and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software
Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Policies
b. Now find explorer if not exist then create it. Right click on right pane and
then click Key. Name this new Key Explorer.
c. Now select Explorer.
d. Now right click on the right pane and click DWORD (32-bit) Value then
enter the name NoLowDiskSpaceChecks.
e. Right click on NoLowDiskSpaceChecks and Click Modify.
f. no low disk space check
g. In DWORD dialog box, change the value to 1. and click ok.
9. Disable Notification Balloons
Notification Balloons are automatically pop-ups on taskbar as some new
notification and warnings. If you dont like this type of balloons then follows
simple steps to disable. First open Registry Editor.
a. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Microsoft Windows
CurrentVersion Explorer Advanced
b. Now right click on the right pane and click DWORD (32-bit) Value then
enter the name EnableBalloonTips.
c. Right click on EnableBalloonTips and Click Modify.
d. In DWORD dialog box, Now set the value data to 0. and click ok.
