5.2.5 PESTL Analysis:

We analyze the alflah bank on the basis of five factors like Political,
Economic, social, technology and legal. The detail of these factors is given
below.
i.

Political:
In our country the government is democratic government. When the
opposition is very strong then the government will be in favor of very
shorter period of time. Which has been seen by us on many times, and it
is on regular bases in Pakistan. So we can say that there is Political
instability in Pakistan. Due to the political instability in Pakistan, there are
direct changes in laws and policies that can be sometime in favor or
sometime against the bank as well as for whole banking sector and other
businesses

ii.

Economic:

18

Bank Alfalah
Limited

Economy of Pakistan is facing a lot of problems. These economic

problems may include the employment problem, inflation problem, literacy
problem and different types of rate of interest, which delay the business
growth. We are seeing that there is regularly decline in economy of
Pakistan.
iii.

Social
According to my mind and my research there is not any social problem or
issue to Alflah bank so in this way we can say that there is not any Cultural
issue to bank, because there are a number of multinational companies in
Pakistan. Therefore, cultural issues are not prominent.

iv.

Technology:
People are highly skilled and can introduce new technology to increase
competencies. Technology is upgrading day by day. So the advancement
in technology creates a little bit problems for bank Alflah as well as for
whole banking sector. But the Alflah bank pays a great intention to the
advancement of technology. It tries to use the latest technology. The
employees are trained through workshops.

v.

Legal:
When we think about the legal factors then there are many laws like
discrimination law, employment law, health and safety law etc. These
legal factors can affect the different operations of alflahl Bank Limited.
These can change the level of income, costs, and also can change the
demand for its products. It takes a long period of time for the result of any
case; the result may be for or against the Bank. But due to the delay in
results of different cases, it cannot grow and cannot help, for the economic
development of our beloved country. Bank Alfalah Limited acknowledging

19

performed by a specific person in a particular department.
Organizational structure depends upon the six key elements, which are as follow.

and regulations regarding their departments. There are different functions
which are being performed in these departments.

ii.

Work Specialization
The employees have specialization in their own works. Mostly the

specialization in these fields.

Chain of Command
The job duties are designed by the top management then assigned to their
middle levels of management and then these are passed on their lower
levels of management and employees.

iv.

Centralization and Decentralization

It means that all main decisions are taken by the Board of Directors and
top level of management.

v.

Span of Control
There is a wide span of control. A single manager in a Branch controls the
activities of all his subordinates within the Branch.

vi.

Formalization
The bank has formal organizational structure and there is no flexibility in
its workings. All the jobs are designed formally and employees have to
work according to the rules and policies which are formally made for their
job.

5.4.5 Tasks and Projects assigned to me during the internship.

I done my internship in Alfalh bank in Jalal pur Jattan but only for six
weeks. Duration of internship was too much short. And due to this reason many
tasks were not assigned to me. The tasks which were assigned during internship
to me are as follow.
First task was given by branch manager to maintain the discipline during
learning which I maintained during whole period.
The Second task

was given to me by Sir Sikandar to find out Customers

for opening new account then next day I found three new customer and called
them for opening account .third task was assign to me by manger operation to fill
the cash slips and I done it while learning. Forth task was assigned to me by sir
Adnan to make stock reports and i did it successfully.

5.4.6 Summary of learning:

5.4.6.1 Skills and qualifications:
During my internship I learnt a lot because it was a first practical
experience for me to work in any organization. It was really good and useful for
me. During my internship I gained a lot of things. It has changed my views about
professional and educational life there is much difference in the theoretical. when
I was working in account opening department ,every kind of customer were come
for taking information only or for the purpose of new account .so I observed
different kinds of behaviours . Some were co operative and some were
aggressive, and I met with those customers who were regular customer of alfalh
bank. In two weeks experience of account opening department I got the skills of

Bank Alfalah

Limited

customer dealing, judging, motivation and politeness. Because while working

with a team we have to maintain our attitude, speaking style, and gestures also.
By working under remittance department I learned about social skills, speaking
power and also learned about the procedure of formal communication. While
working with clearing and money gram department.
I learned the skills of punctuality and courtesy also. The main things
which i learned and adopted also ,is politeness and humbleness ,in every kind of
situation because these two things can bring good and positive solutions of your
problems and these two things are also present in all the employees of bank
alfalah jalal pur jattan branch. Due to working with different people i learned
different qualities and my confidence and knowledge level also been increased
by practical implication .after completing internship I realized it is very fruitful for
students and specially for grooming their personality .it
compulsory part of a professional degree courses and not

should be a
necessary only for

business administration students ,for other departments also because by

practical experience we learned in better way instead of only theory.

5.4.6.4

Internship activities correlated classroom knowledge:

It is good to do internship in your relevant organization e.g I choose bank

for my internship and the reason behind this, correlation of this organization with
my classroom knowledge. Because operations and daily activities of the bank
were related to knowledge of finance which is my specialization field in business
administration. Before doing internship I feel it is a boring and time wasting
project which is assigned to us but after completing it, my views has totally
changed toward internship. Now I admit it is very useful way to achieving
practical knowledge and experience .it provides opportunity to polish your social
skills, grooming of personality and also helpful in increasing confidence level. it
motivates us to learn about new and interesting things . Internship creates a
sense of responsibility among us.

And also removes conflicts of concepts because while studying in

classroom some theoretical concepts were not cleared to me but during
internship i learned about these concepts, how they actually exist in our practical
life. And by observing difference between theoretical and practical knowledge i
will suggest to do internship to gain practical experience. Then we will be able to
apply this knowledge towards the related fields.

Conclusions of the report:

In the conclusion section of the report, evaluations are described.
6.1 A summary of key conclusions derived from the internship
experience:
Conclusion of my report is based on my experience, that I accept banks are
important for our society and play vital role in economy but it is a fact that the
way of their business is against our religion which teaches us interest is not good
for us and the 2

nd

thing which I observed is the tough working routine of

employees .while working here their social life affects adversely. And time period
which was given for tasks and targets is also short. Alfalah has strict rules and
this is good thing to follow rules but sometimes customer dont like it.

7 Recommendations:

It was very good experience to do internship in bank alfalh jalal pur jattan
branch so on behalf of my six week experience I want to give some
recommendation to staff of bank
Services should be properly advertised which are provided by bank
To increase the work efficiency of employees, manager should set a
strategy of incentives.
Operations and systems should be more improved .and IT drawbacks
should be removed.
Audit of operations should be internally.

Expenses of the bank should be controlled.

Unpaid cheques which are drawn on bank alfalh are not mentioned in a
separate register so it should be note down.
There is lack of staff in cash department so at least two more employees
should be hired
