School Council
On Friday we had a School Council Meeting in which elections took place for our representatives on the
Hartlepool Youth Council. It was a most impressive meeting with ten students giving speeches on why they
should be elected. Members of the Local Authority were overwhelmed by the talent and quality of our
students.
The successful candidates were Lauren Howells, Danny Winship and Jack Palmer.
Catcote Road
One evening last week a lady fell over on Catcote Road. She was assisted by our students who called the
emergency services and stayed with her. Two members of the public have contacted us to say how
responsible our students were. I do now know who our students are but if you know anything about this I
would like to have their names please.
News of former students
On Thursday of last week Luke Robertson won the Hartlepool Mail Young Entrepreneur Award. Runner up
was Paul Gough.
Christopher Marshall Bell has secured a position next year as a Journalist with Cycling Weekly.
Revision
Once again, last weekend was very busy for the school with lots of students coming in for revision sessions.
Well done to all who attended and good luck for this weeks exams.
To all students, please remember that some students are taking very important exams at this time and
your cooperation and contribution to a quiet and calm atmosphere is much appreciated.

Chess Club
After a break for GCSE Exam revision, Chess Club returns to the library on Wednesdays from 3.15 to
4.15pm from June 17th - just in time for a bit of practise before the EMS Chess Tournament 2015 the week
after!
The tournament is open to all student chess players and will take place all day in St Anne's Hall on
Wednesday, June 24th. All competitors will play a series of games in the morning up to lunchtime - after
which the finalists will stay on to play their remaining matches - all leading to the knock-out stage and
culminating in the grand final! No chess clocks this time - you play until you win, lose or draw that
particular match. Don't worry if you lose your first match - you can try again in the next matches!
Medals will be presented to all the finalists - with trophies and prizes up for grabs for Best of Year as well
as the overall School Champion and Runner-up.
Entries are free of charge and open to all chess players, whatever your experience or ability. The school has
a lot of chess sets, but don't delay - places may be limited if demand is high. Contact Mr Edwards (Science
Lab 5) with your name and tutor group and book your place now!. Full details will follow once your place
has been confirmed. Good luck!
