slamic Relief launched a new innovative Corporate Social Responsibility Fund which will give the business sector
easy access to the NGOs various developmental projects.
The NGO has been running a number of humanitarian support programmes locally i.e. Education, Health, HIV/Aids
and Food Security, since it opened its first office in Johannesburg in 2003.
With our long-standing relationship with rights holders [beneficiaries] and the donor community, we are well
placed to be a CSI implementation partner for business owners and corporate institutions, Country Director Yusuf
Patel said.
Islamic Relief also provide sustainable, social economic development solutions to communities, through micro
finance projects; making our CSR initiative, ideal for businesses to support.
We are passionate about the work we do, and feel that the time is here for businesses, individuals and key
community leaders to start playing an active role in both giving to themselves, and giving back to others.

NEPAL EARTHQUAKE
APPEAL
The death toll from the earthquake has surpassed 6,600 and
approximately 14,000 injured.
AT A GLANCE :
Islamic Relief has distributed food to more than 500 families in Nepal.
Many homes in the villages have been completely destroyed. With the
monsoon season imminent, the need for shelter is increasing.
Haseeb Khalid, from the team, said: The community was horrified by
the devastation. New mothers and children are the most affected by
the earthquake and already lack the nutrition they need.
Families are asking for clean water, food, blankets and shelter. But
they are also concerned about their futures.
Islamic Relief will be carrying out more food distribution shortly, and
plans to return to the villages to distribute tents and plastic sheeting.

The specialized wing forms part of a strategic partnership worth USD $10 million and is being hailed as a
fitting part of the legacy of South African political icon, Nelson Mandela.
According to CEO of Islamic Relief Worldwide, Dr Mohamed Ashmawey, the oncology unit will enable more
children across Africa to beat cancer.
The Islamic Relief Oncology Centre of Excellence will provide intensive paediatric and specialist care,
and serves the last wish of Nelson Mandela to build this hospital in Johannesburg. No child will be turned
away because they cannot afford to pay.
Construction of the 200-bed Nelson Mandela Childrens Hospital began in 2014 and is due to be completed
in 2016.
