Bronte School

Headmasters Newsletter 34
1st May 2015
An excellent feature of Brontes performing arts programme is
the opportunity to be prepared for and to sit for London
Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) Awards. Last
term, an examiner came to the school to assess both classes
(for class awards are part of the programme too) and
individuals.

Earlier this week, Monday was devoted to staff training,

and part of this was a fascinating session on fire safety
awareness. We have regular fire drills of course, but it
was very interesting for all of us to learn more about
how fires can start and spread, and to become more
familiar with fire safety generally. In addition, we got to
practice use of fire extinguishers, as shown below.

Successful classes and candidates are given grades, Pass,

Merit or Distinction. It was fantastic to get the news that
all our junior classes, who entered the Choral Speaking award,
gained Distinctions. So, very well done indeed to Years 3, 4, 5
and 6.
Individual results were as follows:
Speaking of Verse & Prose: Grade 1: Bivek Kambo and Niraj
Kambo (Pass)
Ananya Gopalakrishnan,
Toniloba Alaka,
Mansimran Clare, (Merit)
Abisayo Oyegoke, Taran
Dio, Ciara Patel
(Distinction)
Speaking of Verse & Prose: Grade 2: Evie-Rose Palmer (Merit)
Sophie Newby, Diya Sodhi,
Tom Ansell, Hannah Kazim,
Bo Rogers (Distinction)

On the subject of performing arts, we are all looking forward to
this terms production of A Midsummer Nights Dream,
taking place on Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th June. This
is a joint production: our Year 6 is teaming up with Year 7 girls
from Mayfield Grammar School. Were really delighted to be
welcoming the Mayfield performers. It is especially good that
Mayfield girls at a time when their schools 2014 centenary is
still being celebrated are performing in the building which
was there right at the start, in 1914.
