practicefortheaspirant.Mostrecurringactionsthatflowfromlust,anger,greed,jealousy
andthelikemanifestonlyinastateofunawareness.Theseedsofthesetendencieslie
dormantinthesubconsciouslayersofthemind.
18. BeAngrybutDoNotBecomeBlindwithAnger.Babaalsosays,Beangrybutdonot
becomeblindwithanger.Neverallowangertopossessyou.Thenitblindsyou.When
angerisgivenfreerein,itburstsoutandcausesdamagenotonlytothepersonat
whomtheangerisdirected,butalso,moreseriously,atalllevelsofbeingtotheonewho
isangry.Letangerbecomeconscious.Stepback,beawitnesstoangerandits
mechanisms,towhatisappropriateandinappropriateinthesituation.Theshowof
appropriateangerindailylifemaybeinevitable.Theparentchastisingachild,the
teacherreprimandingthestudent,maycalloutadisplayofangerinprotective

principletheHefollowedperfectly.Forexample,Babataughtthepathofdesirelessaction
andtheimportanceofselfhelp.Whenlocallandownerspresentedthelandforconstruction
oftheashramandproposedtheirintentiontodonatefundstobuildthecottage,Baba
objected.Withthehelpofthevillagers,HepersonallyworkedontheconstructionofHis
ownsmallcottage,atthesametimeinspiringeveryonenevertofeelashamedtodomenial
work,sinceallworkisservicetotheDivine.
