Letter From The Holy See

9 February 2010
† Feast of Saint Cyril, Bishop of Alexandria, Doctor
Dear Friend In Christ,

I want to thank you for serving Our country. It is indeed an honor talking to a veteran of
the armed services. Realize, my dear friend, that you are indeed called by Christ.
However, there are things you need to do before we have you. I will order them for your
convenience.

1. Formal Submission To The Roman Pontiff

2. Completing a Catechism Class
3. Being Instructed How To Pray Properly
• How to properly use the Brown Scapular
• How to properly pray the Holy Rosary

We are preparing you for a war that is more fierce, restless, cruel, horrible you will ever
experience. We have experienced this for many years under various persecutions. For
Our enemy is spiritual and he never dies. He never gets tired, he never gets sleep, and
he never eats. The only sustenance that continues his war upon Us, is his unsatisfying
thirst of hatred and jealousy that we are loved by God and he is not. “Son, when thou
comest to the service of God, stand in justice and in fear, and prepare thy soul for
temptation.” (Ecclesiasticus 2:1)

Your weapons, should you choose to formally submit to the Church which Jesus Christ
founded, are the Blessed Virgin's Brown Scapular and Holy Rosary.

“The Blessed Virgin appeared to St. Simon Stock at Cambridge, England, on

Sunday, 16 July, 1251. In answer to his appeal for help for his oppressed
order, she appeared to him with a scapular in her hand and said: 'Take,
beloved son this scapular of thy order as a badge of my confraternity and for
thee and all Carmelites a special sign of grace; whoever dies in this garment,
will not suffer everlasting fire. It is the sign of salvation, a safeguard in
dangers, a pledge of peace and of the covenant'.” (Catholic Encyclopedia)

1
The Secret Of The Rosary, St. Louis De Montfort: “If you say the Rosary
faithfully until death, I do assure you that, in spite of the gravity of your sins
'you shall receive a never fading crown of glory.' (1 Peter 5:4) Even if you are
on the brink of damnation, even if you have one foot in hell, even if you have
sold your soul to the devil as sorcerers do who practice black magic, and even
if you are a heretic as obstinate as a devil, sooner or later you will be
converted and will amend your life and save your soul, if - and mark well
what I say - if you say the Holy Rosary devoutly everyday until death for the
purpose of knowing the truth and obtaining contrition and pardon for your
sins.”

Listen to me my dear Son, for We have begotten you in Christ (I Corinthians 4:15), We
believe you are called to the religious life. You are called to the Priesthood. This is a very
great grace which as theologians and the Saints write that after Baptism, there is no
grace that can be compared to. “The spouse of Jesus (nun or sister) should have a high
esteem and veneration for her holy state, since after baptism a vocation to religion is the
greatest grace which God can bestow.” 1 What then about a priest who is an 'alter
Christus' – 'Another Christ' and is able to consecrate the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ
Himself? And as St. Alphonsus writes on the topic that you ought not to hesitate and
delay following your vocation. I am going to give you a list of signs for discerning your
call to the priesthood provided by Fr. William S.J., in his book on Vocations.

1. A desire to have a religious vocation, together with the conviction that God
is calling you. This desire is generally most strongly felt when the soul is
calm, after Holy Communion, and in time of retreat.
2. A growing attraction for prayer and holy things in general, together with a
longing for a hidden life and a desire to be more closely united to God.
3. To have a hatred of the world, a conviction of its hollowness and
insufficiency to satisfy the soul. This feeling is generally strongest in the
midst of worldly amusement.
4. A fear of sin, into which it is easy to fall, and a longing to escape from the
dangers and temptations of the world.
5. It is sometimes the sign of a vocation when a person fears that God may
call them; when he prays not to have it and cannot banish the thought from
his mind. If the vocation is sound, it will soon give place to an attraction,
through Father Lehmkulhl says: “One need not have a natural inclination
for the religious life; on the contrary, a divine vocation is compatible with a
natural repugnance for the state.”
6. To have zeal for souls. To realize something of the value of an immortal
soul, and to desire to cooperate in their salvation.
7. To desire to devote our whole life to obtain the conversion of one dear to
us.
8. To desire to atone for our own sins or those of others, and to fly from the

1 St. Mary Magdalene de Pazzi quoted by St. Alphonsus in The True Spouse of Jesus Christ.

2
temptations which we feel too weak to resist.
9. An attraction for the state of virginity.
10. The happiness which the thought of religious life brings, its spiritual
helps, its peace, merit and reward.
11. A longing to sacrifice oneself and abandon all for the love of Jesus Christ,
and to suffer for His sake.
12. A willingness in one not having any dowry, or much education, to be
received in any capacity, is a proof of a real vocation.

We have republished two vocations books among others. They are called Vocations by: Fr.
William Doyle S.J., and The Religious State by: St. Alphonsus Marie Liguori CSSR.

Remember my dear Son, you need to formally submit yourself to the Church, if you wish
to save your soul. As Pope Boniface VIII writes in his papal bull Unam Sanctam:
“Furthermore, We declare, We proclaim, We define that it is absolutely necessary for
salvation that every human creature be subject to the Roman Pontiff.” In this letter I am
enclosing a blessed Brown Scapular and Holy Rosary. I am also putting in this letter a
formal profession of faith that is necessary for you to send to Us before we can start
training you to convert souls for Jesus Christ. If you like, you can subscribed to Our
international magazine, Divine Providence © (an order form will be provided). The Holy
Father and I have read your letter thoroughly.

God Bless and Best Regards,

Phil Friedl, 2nd Year Catholic Seminarian, Delia, Kansas, USA.
