Installation
1.

Download HP ALI Dev for Eclipse zip file from HPLN

Open Eclipse and select Help > Install New Software...

Add the update site for HP ALI Dev for Eclipse and ensure that it is selected in the combo box at the top of the
installation wizard.

After selecting the update site, you should see the features available on the update site:

From this list, select HP ALI Dev for Eclipse to install the base features of HP ALI Dev. At this time, you should
also install additional integrations to enhance your experience. As an example, if you use Eclipse IDE for Java
Developers and you use Subclipse for managing your SVN controlled source code, also select the Mylyn
Context Connector: Java Development, Mylyn Context Connector: Team Support, Mylyn Context Connector:
Eclipse IDE and Subclipse Integration for Mylyn 3.x (Optional).
These additional integrations ensure that you will have the most full featured experience while using HP ALI
Dev for Eclipse including automatic commit comment message generation based on your active task.

If the installation spends a long time "Calculating requirements and dependencies," you can speed it up by
removing unneeded update sites:
1.

Click the red button to cancel the operation

2.

Click "Available Software Sites" at the top, uncheck all update sites other than the HP ALI Dev update
site, and click OK

3.

Click Next to try the installation again

Restart Eclipse once prompted to update Eclipse with the HP ALI Dev for Eclipse features.

6.

Once Eclipse has restarted, open the Task List view (Window > Show View > Other > Mylyn > Task List) to get
started with HP ALI Dev for Eclipse.

Installation FAQ
I am already running Mylyn. Can I use HP ALI Dev with this version of Mylyn?
HP ALI Dev for Eclipse supports the Mylyn versions specified in the Requirements section

I am getting out of memory errors, or errors about heap or PermGen space. What
should I do?
You may need to increase the heap and PermGen space available to Eclipse. To do this, open the eclipse.ini file in the
directory where your Eclipse is installed, and add the following lines after the "-vmargs" line:
-Xmx512M
-XX:MaxPermSize=128M
The first line sets the maximum heap space in megabytes. You should set this to at least 512M, but no higher than
1024M unless you are running a 64bit version of Eclipse.
