INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR ACCUCAL FLOWMETER VALVES

GF-6341 & GF-6541 SERIES

GENERAL
The flowmeter valves on the ACCUCAL flowmeters are field replaceable. Replacement
valves are sold as kits which include the valve, valve seat orifice, and o-ring seals. The
correct kit number depends on the tube size of the flowmeter. Refer to Table 1 Valve Kit
Part Numbers for the correct kit part number. If the wrong size valve is used, it may
physically fit into the flowmeter end block, but it will provide poor performance. Table 2
lists the approximate inside diameter for different orifices and cross relates the valve size
to the tube size.
NOTE:
Always check the orifice for correct inside diameter when installing a new
valve. Using the wrong orifice for a particular valve size will result in poor performance
and may damage the orifice.

VALVE AND TUBE SIZE NUMBERS

The tube size number is located on the tube at the top of the scale. The valve size number
is located on the face of the valve knob. This number consists of two parts: valve size (1,
2, 3, 4) and the type of valve (Standard (S) or Precision (P)).
VALVE INSTALLATION
A. Tools Required
Tools required for removing and/or installing the valve assembly as listed in Table 3. The
last column of the table identifies the step(s) in the procedure below which requires the
tool.

B. Procedure
To replace a valve or to install a valve in a flowmeter without a valve, proceed as follows:
1. Proceed with substep a if replacing an existing valve or proceed with substep b if no
valve is presently installed.
a.

Remove valve, valve seat and o-ring (1).

b.

Remove Mylar label (2) then remove plug and o-ring (3).

NOTE:
Before proceeding verify that you have the correct valve kit for your
flowmeter and that the orifice is correct.
2. Check that the o-ring and valve seat is on the new valve and insert the valve (1) into
the front of the end block (4) of the flowmeter body
3. Rotate the valve body clockwise until it is firmly seated in the end block. Refer to Table
4 for proper torque.

FLOWMETER VALVE OPERATION
When operating the flowmeter valve to control flow, stop closing the valve when the float
drops to the bottom stop. Continuing to close after this point can cause excessive valve
seat wear, resulting in poor performance and early replacement of the valve seat.
