Objective
To establish the current stress levels using the latest standards, loading and current in-place
conditions.
To perform pushover analyses on the structures to establish reserve strength ratio of intact and
damaged structures.
To perform fatigue analysis. To establish modifications to loading or structural strengthening if
necessary to extend the operating lives by 20 years above the original design life using fatigue
life predictions.
To establish the mitigation plan and design for required life extension for next 20 years.
Platform Details
All the platforms are of the following type

SCOPE OF SERVICE
GENERAL
The scope of Service will cover the following activities:
WORK EXECUTION
Collation and Utilization of information/Data
i.
ii.
iii.
iv.
The Contractor must compile, review and utilize all the available information, data,
documents, reports, drawings etc. This shall include all additions I modifications till now
on structure(s), additions I deletions to utility (major equipment, services etc.) for weight
assessment.
Carry out site visits to the areas as necessary for visual inspection, structural survey and
data gathering. Required thickness measurements for verification of As Built conditions
also form part of survey scope.
It is not envisaged that the inspection would include diving works. Diving inspection
reports will be made available by the Company.
Collect any other relevant and available information required for the analysis and study
including information obtained from inspection reports and previous issued along with
report. The weight report shall clearly document the basis for the weight and compare
with the previous structural analysis weights where available.
Following the collation of all the necessary information and data, the Contractor shall review and assess
draft design criteria currently used by the Company for design of its offshore structures with respect to the
latest editions of the appropriate British and American Codes of Practice, appropriate alternative
standards such as DNV Rules etc.
The Contractor shall make recommendations for any changes and improvements to be made to the design
criteria and agree the same with the Company. This shall then be used in the study and analysis of the
structures.
Following compiling and review of the criteria, data and documents as stated above, the Contractor shall
prepare and submit a basis of Design Report for review and approval of the Company.
Structural Analysis of Platforms a) The subject platforms are originally conceived to be more or less similar configuration and
therefore one common computer mathematical model with separate treatments for variations in
the four structure decks can be developed with separate in-place, fatigue and pushover analyses
for each platform, as per their correct loading condition.
b) The Contractor shall perform complete structural analysis of the platforms together with the
associated appurtenances and attachments. The analysis shall be carried out using SACS
computer software for modeling and analysis of the structures in order to determine the overall
behavior of the structures and to establish the maximum stress levels in all the structural
components.
c) All attachments and appurtenances including boat landings, caissons, stair cases and overhangs
etc. which contribute in increase of wave and wind loading shall be modeled and accounted for
when analysis is performed. Boat landing structure if connected with the main platform shall be
modeled as real and integral with main platform structures.
d) The fundamental natural frequency of the structures shall be calculated to be used in fatigue and
in-place analyses. The structures shall be analyzed using the gathered data, updated
environmental and geotechnical data, design criteria and the requirements of the latest editions of
the relevant and approved international codes of practice and shall be checked against these codes
and standards listed in the approved basis of design report.
e) The structures shall be analyzed under operating one year and for the extreme 100 years design
storm wave. Code checking of the structural elements of the platforms should be performed and
comply with the appropriate international standards and codes of practices.
f) The analysis shall consider waves from eight directions with their associated period range and
minimum and maximum water depths in order to establish the worst scenario, which will result
and produce the maximum stresses in the structural elements.
g) Fatigue analyses of the platforms are required using spectral fatigue and applying the available
data provided by the Company. Any member or joints, if above water level, appears to be prone to
fatigue, damage shall be reported and recommendations for various options for remedial action
i.e. joint strengthening or modification shall be submitted.
h) The final stage of this exercise is to carry out pushover analyses for all the structures in order to
develop a risk based inspection plan. An in-elastic pushover analysis is required to establish the
reserve strength of the intact structures as defined in API RP2A 2151 edition. Further pushover
analyses shall be applied to establish the reserve strength of the structures assuming some critical
elements are defective/damaged and. Unable to carry any loads. In case where a leg is damaged,
shall also be considered in establishing the redundancy of the structures.
i) Contractor shall review the results of the in-place and fatigue analyses and using this information,
propose the most likely situation on which to perform the pushover analyses for the damaged
structure.
j) The recommendations for performing this analysis are laid out in API RP2A.21 st Edition.
Particular attention is drawn to the need for careful modeling of members to ensure correct
response to the applied loading.
k) Where analysis and calculations carried out illustrate that the life extension for the platforms
cannot be expected, recommendations and options for strengthening supported by re-analysis and
cost estimates for strengthening should be provided by the Contractor
l) In the study of the various options/recommendations, the Contractor is expected to narrow down
on at least two (2) options for strengthening with due consideration on the most cost- effective
measures to be adopted.
