NAME CARDS

Area of Development: Communication Skills, Sensory, Perceptual Skills


I.

Objective:
Nasasabi: kung sinu-sino and mga taong mapagkakatiwalaan sa
pamayanan
- Mga kamag- anak na malapit ang bahay
- Mga malapit at kilalang kapitbahay

II.

Description:
This material is designed to familiarize/ recognize the trusted members of
the community. It consists of name cards with pictures.

III.

Materials:
Cartolina/folder, pentel pen, paste, pictures

Procedures:
A. How to make
1. Get a cartolina /folder and cut it into a desired size.
2. Write the word and paste the picture of grandfather grandmother,,
aunt, uncle and cousin.
3. Duplicate it
.

B. How to use:
1. Give the name cards to the children
2. Spread the duplicate cards around the room
3. Let the children look for their duplicate name cards
4. Let children read the word.
5. After reading the word, the teacher asks, who is in the picture?
Do you have them in your family?
6. The teacher will hold the first picture and show it to the children.
7. Tell the role of the grandfather in the family.
8. Ask one child to repeat the role of grandfather in the family.

9. Present the other pictures stating their roles in the family.


10. Praise the child for his/her effort.
VI.

Variation:
This can also be used in recognizing the letter names and sounds, animals
and their young s, things used in school, number skills, sets and number
words.

Description: This activity will develop the children their sense of


belongingness and uniqueness.

Materials:
improvised TV made of recycled box
2 rattan sticks with 17 inches long,1 inch thick
manila paper cut in 13 inches width

Illustration:

(improvised TV showing pictures, of three persons talking to each


other uttering different dialects in Luzon like Tagalog ,Ilocano and
Pangasinan. )

V. Procedures:
A. How to make
1. Get a recycled box and cut the big portion of it that will serve as the
screen.
2. Cover the left portion of the box with black cartolina using glue or
masking tape.
3. Make a hole on both sides of the box that fits the one inch thick of
17 inches long rattan.
4. Prepare a manila paper and paste the picture of three persons
talking to each other.
5. Roll the manila paper with picture in the rattan stick
6. Paste the plastic cover on the open portion of the box that serves
as the screen with the use of scotch tape.
7. Improvised TV is ready to use.
B. How to use
1. Show the improvised TV to the children
2. Set the children for viewing.
3. Actual viewing
4. Teacher starts to roll the manila paper holding the rattan.
5. Ask the children what the first person says.
6. Let the child utters ,Magandang Umaga po
7. The teacher may ask: How do you say Magandang Umaga po in
Ilocano? Pangasinan?
8. Then, the teacher roll again the picture to other person talking
showing the Ilocano dialect.
9. Do the same for Pangasinan dialect
10. Administer the lesson one dialect after another.
V.

Variation
This material can also be used to identify community roles (policeman,
fireman, nurse, doctor, dentist) story -telling and dialogue.The teacher can
also make use of a puppet.

Description:
This activity will enable the children to identify activities done in school and
at home. It will develop their love of work and become responsible
individuals.
This material shows series of pictures showing group activities done in
school and at home.

Procedures:
A. How to make
1. Cut and paste pictures in showing children working together in
school.
2. Cut and paste pictures showing members of the family doing
household chores.
B. How to use
1. Group the children into two.
2. Place all the pictures on the table. Let them identify the pictures
whether the activities are done in school or at home
3. Let them paste it on the proper label.
4. Teacher asks: Did you see the children in the first group? Where
are they? Did they work together happily?
5. Listen to childrens response.
6. Look at the second group. Where are they? Are they working as
one?
7. Ask the children what picture would you like most between the two
groups?
8. Let the children point the picture.
9. Praise the children for their efforts.

Variation
1. This can also be used in teaching :
synonyms and antonyms,
Upper case and lower case of the alphabet.

Description: This material is a basket containing pictures of different


activities like cleaning the floor; dusting the appliances, chairs and tables
throwing of garbage in a trash bin.

pictures of different activities like cleaning the floor, dusting the chairs and
tables, throwing waste in a trash bin

Procedures:
A. How to make
1. Get a small basket.
2. Cut pictures of different activities like cleaning the floor, dusting the
appliances, chairs and tables and throwing garbage in a trash bin
3. Paste it in a cartolina.
4. Put all the pictures inside the basket

B.How to use
1. Get the basket with the pictures
2. Group chilldren into two. Group A will pick up a picture and show it.
Group B will do the activity.
3. Let them do the activity until all the pictures are taken out from the
basket then take turns.
Example:
cleaning the floor.
dusting the chairs/tables.
throwing the garbage in the trash bin.
4. Tell the children; that the activities they did will maintain the cleanliness
of the surroundings clean.

Variation
This can also be used in identifying letter of the alphabet and naming
objects that begin with the letter being drawn from the basket. Bag can
also be used in place of basket.

Description: This material is a two tab Foldables with printed names and
pictures of national symbols like flag, flower, hero etc.

colored cartolina or construction paper
picture of flag,hero,flower
picture name (printed/computer printed name)

Procedures:
A. How to make:
1. Create a two tab Foldables using colored cartolina or construction
paper.
2. Paste the picture of national symbol in each of the inner tab
3. Attach the printed name on the other side.

B. How to use:
1. Hold the materials.
2. Open the FOLDables. Let the children identify the picture.
3. The teacher will read the printed name and ask the children to
repeat after her.
4. Ask: Where can you see the flag? Do you have it inside the room?
5. Tell the children that flag is one of the national symbols.

6. Teacher will end the lesson by saying, Be proud, we are all

Objective: Engages in outdoor physical activities, that may either be child


initiated or teacher initiated:
marching through the rhythm.

musical instruments.
Materials:

1. Prepare the ground
2. Put markers for the children to follow.
3. It can be done indoor or outdoor
4. Prepare a thumbs up and thumbs down sign
B. How to use
1. Let the children form their lines.
2. Safety precautions must be made before the activity.
3. Instruct the children to follow the line with markers, marching
forward through the rhythm of using sticks, drum or clapping of
hands.
4. Show the thumb up sign If the children can do the activity and the
thumbs down if not.
5. Let the children do the activity until they master the skill.
6. Give them stars for their 100% participation.

Variation
This activity can also be used in simple calisthenics. Tape recorder can be
used instead of musical instruments.

Description: This activity demonstrates safety and appropriate practices


in the neighborhood. It enables the children to follow simple directions.

A. How to make
1. Draw and cut three circles in an illustration board and cover each
with a red , yellow and green reflectorize paper.
2. Arrange the circles according to their proper places and paste it a
rectangular illustration board.
3. Cut strips of white cartolina for the pedestrian lane.

B. How to use
1. Hang the traffic sign and place the pedestrian lane.
2. Discuss and explain the meaning of pedestrian lane and the traffic
signs.
3. Let the children do the activity called crossing the street using the
traffic signs and the pedestrian lane . Teacher observes.
4. Do this activity until they master the skills.

Variation:
This activity can also be used in identifying different colors.
The use of improvised car or bus during the activity can make it more
interesting and meaningful.
