Mounting Hyport series ceiling supply pendant

1.1 Preparing for mounting
1.1.1 Making the mounting base rack
Due to different storey height and net room height after decoration in different
hospitals, Nanjing Mindray Bio-medical Electronics Co., Ltd. requires hospitals
making and mounting base racks for the ceiling supply pendant and ceiling supply
beam, to meet the specified mounting height and conditions, so that the pendant can
be mounted smoothly and play its normal function when mounted.
As the medical pendant is a large load bearing equipment, Nanjing Mindray
Bio-medical Electronics Co., Ltd. suggests that embedded reinforcement be made for
the mounting base rack when the building is constructed, and for completed buildings,
the fixing must be made by penetrating the floor slab (especially for dual-arm heavy
duty pendants and pendants for anesthetic machines, before welding is performed for
mounting base rack below it.
The requirements for fabrication of base rack:

4- unequal angle steel 8/5

2-8# channel L=0.5mm

4-8# channel L=1mm

4-5# angle steel L=1.2mm

Mounting flange
4-5# angle steel L=0.6mm

The fabrication sequence and requirements are as follows:

1. All materials used shall be ordinary carbon steel Q235A, meeting the nominal
mechanical characteristics specified in national standard GB700-88.
2. Machine and mount the flange, 2-8# channel L=0.5m and 4-unequal angle steel 8/5
according to the requirements on drawings, and the 5# angle steel can be cut on field
according to the actual structure layer and decorative ceiling height for mounting
before welding;
3. Holes are drilled in the structure layer at the pendant mounting position (which is
the coordinates of the mounting flange center), and use 10-M12X120 expansion bolts
to fix the 2-8# channels (L=0.5m);
4. Weld the 4-8# channel L=1m (which is the reference value, and it shall be cut at
actual height according to the length). It is required to fill it in 3 sides without faulty
welding. Carbon steel electrode E4300 (GB5117-85) is recommended, and the weld
seam height should be no less than 4mm;
5. The mounting flange is mounted to the welded channel (note the orientation of
mounting flange), it should be fully filled without faulty welding. Carbon steel
electrode E4300 (GB5117-85) is recommended, and the weld seam height should be
no less than 4mm; the horizontality of the welded mounting flange shall be ensured.
6. Drill holes according to the actual structure on site, and use M12X100 expansion
bolts to mount the 4-unequal angle steel 8/5 onto the structure ceiling, then weld the
4-5# angle steel L=1.2m, with a recommended angle between the bracing and
mounting flange at 20~45 (note that the bracing should not interfere with other
equipment in the structure layer and suspended ceiling, such as air conditioning duct).
It should be fully filled without faulty welding. Carbon steel electrode E4300
(GB5117-85) is recommended, and the recommended weld seam height is 2mm;
7. Adjust the length of 4-5# angle steel L=0.6m according to the actual mounting
height, and weld them onto 4-8# channel (note that the welding contact surface should

be on the narrow side of the channel), for which intermittent welding should be used
to reduce the effect of stress concentration. Carbon steel electrode E4300 (GB5117-85)
is recommended;
8. After completion of welding and cooling of the steel rack structure, perform the
anti-rust and anti-corrosion treatment on the surface.

1.1.2 Determining the mounting location of base rack

The specific location of the pendant should be finally determined according to its
functions by the hospital in conjunction with clinical personnel for the service
purpose.
Normally, in determining the location of the pendant, the rotating radius of the
pendant, the size of the filtered laminar air flow hood in the operation room and the
size of the operation room should be taken into overall consideration. The final
objective of the locating of pendant in the operation room should be good looking and
convenient for use (it can reach the optimum position when used, and be moved to the
wall side when not used).

Mounting base rack for Hyport3000 and Hyport6000 single pendant:

For the mounting, a cutout of 430 is made on the decorative ceiling, noting the
concentricity of the cutout and the central opening of the mounting flange. To mount
the pendant, 6 screws of M20X400 are used to connect it with the prior mounted base
rack, and the M20 nuts are adjusted, so that the horizontality of the pendant base
flange is kept within 0.1mm, as shown below:

Pendant base flange

Mounting base rack for Hyport3000 and Hyport6000 dual pendant:

For mounting the dual pendant, a rectangular cutout of 700X450 should be made
on the decorative ceiling, and the side of the base rack plate must be parallel with the
wall surface. The required horizontality of pendant base flange is the same as above.
The relative mounting locations of the long and short flange tubes of the ICU
dual pendant are as follows:
I. For side-by-side mounting in ICU:
The short flange tube is located to the right of the patient, for connection with the
wet pendant, and the long flange tube is located to the left of the patient, for
connection with the dry pendant.
II. For longitudinal mounting in ICU:
The short flange tube is located in front of the patient head, and the long flange
tube located behind the patient head.

Mounting base rack for beam:

For mounting the beam, a circular cutout of 220 is made on the decorative
ceiling.

The relationship between the spacing D of the two base racks and the beam L is
as follows:
When L=2200mm, D=1150mm;
When L2800mm, D=1750mm.
The parallelism of the centerline of the two base racks and the reference wall
surface should be noted during mounting.

1.1.3 Laying power wires

As different devices will be mounted on the pendant of different types, the
pendant will be arranged with different power supplies. Normally each pendant
should have two power supplies, with each no less than 220V, 20A in capacity.
Therefore, the reserved wires should be power cord with core size no less than 4mm2

(live, zero and grounding wires) and equal-potential grounding wires with core size
no less than 6mm2 (PE). The wires should be laid to within 15cm of the mounting
rack lower plate A, with reserved wire no less than 1.5m, for connection with pendant
when the pendant is mounted.

1.1.4 Laying gas pipelines

Pendants with different functions will be supplied with different types of gases.
The hospital shall lay the gas pipelines for the pendant up to the mounting rack lower
plate A according to its own requirements, within a range of 10cm (few ducts should
be laid up to the side of the mounting rack lower plate A); copper unions provided by
us should be welded, on which the pipeline labels should be attached, indicating the
type of pipeline, to prevent wrong connection during mounting.
Pipelines for oxygen (O2), laughing gas (N2O), nitrogen (N2), compressed air
(Air), carbon dioxide (CO2) should be copper tubes of 8mm in diameter; vacuum
tubes (Vac) should be copper tubes of 10mm in diameter, for anesthetic gas discharge
(AGSS), PVC tubes of 15mm in diameter should be used, and the air motor exhaust
pipeline (HP air at 10Bar) should be copper tubes of 15mm in diameter.
Weld the copper unions provided by us onto the respective pipelines, and arrange
them above the mounting rack lower plate A.
