KRYPTON // 28 (EARTH) YEARS AGO

Settle down, settle down! High Priest Oel-Dar ordered the crowd of hundreds of
thousands of people. He stepped back from the podium at the edge of the balcony.
He stood at the edge of the balcony, looking down at the Kryptonians that
searched for answers in him. His face conveyed sadness and confusion. He didnt know
what to do. All but one of Kryptonian High Council had disappeared; the planet was in a
state of unrest. Hes the only person of power left on Krypton. Even those who were not
affiliated with the Church of Rao turned to him for answers.
Oel-Dar turned to his left where his second in command, Exel-Diaco Mon-Dartha,
stood stoically. Mon-Dartha looked over to Oel-Dar.
Youll do fine sir. Mon-Dartha reassured the High Priest.
Oel-Dar looked to his right where Jor-El stood. Jor-El bowed, shifting his upper
body to a 45-degree angle, out of respect. What a gargantuan day for Jor-El, Oel-Dar
thought to himself as he bowed in return Jor-El.
Oel-Dar looked north to Rao, Kryptons crimson red sun named after its creator.
Rao be with me. He whispered before stepping back up to the podium.
People of Krypton. We are faced with an issue on a scale we have never seen
before. Our great city of Kandor disappeared. Vanished. Taken by an enemy we know

nothing of. So what do we do in this situation? According to our system of law, if

members of council die, resign, are impeached, or lose the position for any other reason,
the members of the council ranked below them move up in rank to fill the spots of those
gone, and new council members must be elected to fill the gaps left in the bottom
rankings. This means that council member Jor-El has now been promoted to Gran-Decur
of the Kryptonian High Council. The only member of the Kryptonian High Council.
An assistant walked out on to the balcony from inside the palace. In his hands he
carried a case. The case was made of a lustrous metal and was in the shape of a pentagon.
Oel-Dar stepped backwards as Jor-El moved in to the place Oel-Dar had been
standing. The assistant handed the case to Jor-El and walked back inside. Jor-El opened
the case. Inside was the crest of the House of El. Jor-El placed the case on the podium
and removed the crest. Jor-El removed the crest that was on his chest at the time,
rendering his clothes to nothing but a grey jumpsuit, Jor-El attached the crest to the center
of his chest and new garments cover his body. Jor-El was then adorned in the traditional
Gran-Decur attire. The crowd erupted in tonoise. Some shouted out of joy, others out
of hatred. Hoorays and boos were launched at the ears of Jor-El.
Great Rao, Oel-Dar whispered, Bless Jor-El heart, mind, and soul. For only
someone ordained by you could unite Krypton at a time like this.

METROPOLIS // NOW
Uuuuurrgggghhhhh! Superman grunts as he tries to stabilize the large plane that
he holds in his hands above him. Hes never had to do something this hard. Of course he
hasnt been around as Superman for long, but they made it look so easy in the comic
books. The plane teeters back and forth as it at a now slower pace descends to wards
the ground. Trying to stop the plane from below does not seem to be working well.
Superman zooms to the front of the plane and tries to stop it with an opposing
force. He does nothing but gets slammed by the plane, sending him down towards the
ground as well. Superman balances himself in the air. He flies towards the left wing of
the plane. He grabs it and tilts it up with all of his strength, too much strength. The plane
flips up to an almost 90 degree angle with the ground, and drops straight down, even
faster than before.
Superman flies to the door and rips it open. He realizes that this is the private
plane of the now unconscious - Lex Luthor. Superman grabs Lex and his assistant
Mercy Graves and flies out of the plane. Superman drops them on the top of a Metropolis
skyscraper before darting back towards the plane. At this point people on the ground are
watching the scene play out, either with their naked eyes or through a TV screen.
Superman puckers his lips and blows a gust of air at the plane. The plane slows
down slightly. His heat vision charges up and he fires a blast at the plane. He begins
burning away at the plane. Some parts of the plane burn in to nothing, but most just
catches on fire. Thats when he realizes his stupid mistake. Superman hits the engine with
his heat ray. BOOM!! A large explosion sends Superman crashing to the ground, and
chunks of the plane descend upon Metropolis.

Superman crashes in to an open field of a park. As people walk towards and run
away from him, he begins to lose his consciousness. As everything goes black he thinks
to himself, what have I done? How could I have been so stupid?
