•Sibling Rivalry
–Gen 37:6-7 – He said to them, “Hear, if you please, this dream
which I dreamt: Behold! – we were binding sheaves in the middle
of the field, when, behold! – my sheaf arose and also remained
standing; then behold! – your sheaves gathered around and bowed
down to my sheaf.”
–Gen 37:18 – They saw him afar; and when he had not yet
approached them they conspired against him to kill him.
–Gen 37:26-27 – Judah said to his brothers, “What gain will there
be if we kill our brother and cover up his blood? Come, let us ell
him to the Ishmaelites…”

•Sibling Reconciliation
–Gen 44:33 – Now, therefore, please let your servant remain
instead of the youth as a servant to my lord, and let the youth go
up with his brothers.
–Gen 45:4-5 – …”I am Joseph your brother – it is me, whom you
sold into Egypt. And now, be not distressed, nor reproach
yourselves for having sold me here…”
•Joseph had prophetic dreams of being a ruler amongst his
brothers and subsequently became viceroy in Egypt.
•Judah became a leader amongst his brothers by asserting
himself to sell Joseph into Egypt and latter offering himself in
place of Benjamin.

–The book Mashiach by Jacob Schochet pg. 97 - …she called his
name “Yossef, saying ‘yossef Hashem – may G-d add to me ben
acher (lit., another son), i.e., ben acharono shel olam – one who
will be at the end of the world’s time,’ from which it follows the
‘meshu’ach milchamah – one anointed for battle’ will descend
from Joseph”

•Conclusion
–Deut 30:3 – Then HaShem, your God, will bring back your
captivity and have mercy upon you, and He will gather you in
form all the peoples to which HaShem, your God, has scattered
you.
–Jeroboam served Solomon (1 Kings 11:26,28) and eventually
lead a revolt against Solomon’s son Rehoboam resulting in the
split of the kingdom and fulfilling the Torah’s prophecy of
kingship for both Judah and Joseph. It may be that as the
kingdom fell apart, so will it be put back together. The Mashiach
ben Yoseph (King of Israel) and Mashiach ben David (King of
Judah) reuniting the tribes of Israel to culminate the final
redemption.
