Technical Overview
Environmental Drilling Solutions (EDS) has developed a proprietary LCM Recovery System which can be
used to recover and reuse lost circulation material. This reduces operators' costs of LCM, and maintains
LCM concentrations in the drilling fluid to help improve wellbore integrity.
The EDS LCM Recovery System consists of either a single auger tank with 100 bbl capacity (85 bbl working
capacity), or a dual auger tank with 195 bbl capacity (180 bbl working capacity).
How It Works
The auger tank accepts the full flow from the well bore by bypassing the rig mounted shale shakers. Bypassing the rig shakers to the EDS auger tank allowing all LCM to remain in the active mud system.
Drilling fluid flows back into the active rig pits through the equalizer line from the auger tank back to the
active system.
Zero agitation in the tank allows the cuttings removed from the wellbore to fall out of the mud system and
to the bottom of the tank.
Cuttings that fall to the bottom of the tank are then removed with the augers.
Cuttings can be conveyed to the reserve pit or trucks to be hauled from location.
To conserve valuable drilling fluid, the cuttings can instead be conveyed to an EDS vertical dryer or EDS
drying shakers.
Effluent from the vertical dryer or drying shakers can be centrifuged and returned to the active mud
system.
