Since the first Seventh-day Adventist school commenced on St


Kilda Road, Melbourne in the early 1890s, our education system has become a significant contributor to the
worldwide network of Adventist schools employing over 84,000 teachers and currently educating over 1.6 million
students.
Today, Adventist School Australia serves the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church by providing strategic
direction and support to 50 school campuses spread across Australia that are offering Christian education to 13,000
students.
Our dedicated team of principals, teaching and support staff is committed to providing a high quality, Christ-centred,
non-selective education to all who pass through our classrooms. On this website you will find details in relation to our

Adventist Encounter Curriculum


Adventist Encounter Curriculum is a spiritual journey for students, which takes them from kindergarten through to the
independent, free thinking teenager. It takes each individual on an expedition with God.
The Adventist Encounter Curriculum is a seamless curriculum that is intentional about exploring big-picture, spiritual
concepts with the goal of making a difference. This curriculum uses the four walls of the classroom to help build a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ, using the Bible as the source of truth. Through rigorous pedagogical practice, it
explores and develops personal spiritual experience and reasons for faith, lifestyle choices, and ethical decisionmaking from an Adventist worldview, all the while nurturing interpersonal relationships (the essence of a faith-building
environment) and service to others. In short, it seeks to develop these disciples of the Great Commission.
Transformation is the goal of the Adventist Encounter Curriculum. Using Pr Ben Maxsons Spiritual Growth Model,
and Lanelle Cobbins Transformational Planning Framework, the Adventist Encounter Curriculum supportsteachers in
sharing a series of learning experiences with their students where they meet God through biblical stories and themes,
are provided with the opportunity to develop a relationship with Him, are able to put their beliefs into practice in their
own lives, and celebrate these realities.

The Quality Adventist School Program is a school improvement framework based on worlds best practice and
provides a process for schools to engage in the further strengthening of each schools professional learning culture.
In addition, the QAS is designed to provide the cornerstone for school-based review processes and meaningful
professional conversations between schools and system leadership in relation to shared strategic goals.
The QAS framework is comprised of four domains and 20 self-review components. These components reflect
theprofessional voice of more than 100 people engaged in Adventist education teachers, principals, directors of
education and consultants. These components will serve to foster valuable professional dialogue in every Adventist
school. The quality of this dialogue and its basis in sound evidence will lead to a focus on improvement and, most
importantly, to better learning outcomes for all students.

Quality Adventist Schools - 20 Components

The review process that is predominantly undertaken in the school asks three questions:

How are we going?

How do we know?

What are we going to do now?

A school improvement plan will be developed from the quantum of professional dialogue engaged in by the school's
personnel. This plan will guide the school and its leadership team as they set out to improve the quality of learning
opportunities for their students.
The work of the school is validated by a critical friend of the school and the improvement process is reviewed every
five years.
