topics today in the market due to
the growing threat landscape and
attack vectors. The biggest challenge apart from the technology is
awareness about the whole thing. Looking at the
market requirement, Spectrami along with Imtac
organized an information security event aka
Cyber Security Trendz 2015 in Oman during the
last week of May.
Started at 9:00 oclock on 27th may 2015,
Cyber Security Trendz 2015, Oman witnessed
a gathering of more than 45 C-level executives
from various vertical industries including Oil &
Gas, BFSI, Govt. Aviation, hospitality, etc.
The event highlighted the presentation of
Amar Singh, Founder & CEO, Cyber Management Alliance and Industry Influencer &
Leader. He addressed the audience about todays
infrastructure with challenges of tomorrow
and protecting their infrastructure. He mused
on the trends in the industry and how one can
defend his/her organization. Also in the forum
were leading vendors in the security solutions
including Fidelis, LogRhythm and Tenable who
addressed the audience.
Speaking about the context Anand Choudha,
MD, Spectrami said that there is a huge
opportunity in the security market in the region.

Every alternative day there is some news regarding security breaches; therefore we require a
concerted approach to address the whole market.
Today, we are fortunate that we have Amar
Singh, Founder & CEO, Cyber Management
Alliances on our side who bringshis expertise on
the whole subject. We have collaborated together
to bring out standard programmes to help the
user community here, he added.
We started off with our event from Oman
some days back, where we got good number of
CISOs who attended and Amar had workshops
with them. Not only did he speak about the pres-

ent situation of the cyber security specific to this

region and how could they mitigate those threats
but also he tried to evaluate the readiness of those
companies, he maintained.
Amar Singh said, Globally and in this region
too advanced persistent threat is definitely the
biggest cause of concern but the challenge is not
about knowing the time of attack but it is about
how to respond to the attack. In the western
countries, the focus has shifted from the attack to
response of the attack within a short span of time.
So our objective is to make the organisations and
people to detect the attack and respond to the
attacks.
Anand added, I am happy that so many
people came and joined us. I would like to thank
our partners who put up a great show. We know
that 30% of the entire defence against the attacks
is technology and 70% is about people, process
and understanding about it. Therefore a lot of
education has to be to be done in this, where we
felt the gap lies.
Anand also revealed that in October they are
planning an event in this region for the CISOs
of the top organisations to come together for a
workshop where Amar will create the framework
and during that workshop, the CISOs will come
out with a white paper around threats and mitigation specific to the Middle East market.
One of the CXOs who were present in the
event said, I find this event to be very informative. I would urge the security vendors across the
region to come forward and work aggressively on
the awareness creation in this region as Spectrami
and Imtac have done today.
