Requirements for Admission to the Upper-Division Nursing Program

Upper-Division BSN Application Eligibility Requirements

n For consideration of admission to the upper-division nursing program, an applicant must have completed by the Campus-Based BSN
application deadline:

Be admitted and have an active student status with UT Arlington Office of Admissions and Records (uta.edu/admissions). Admission to
UT Arlington is dependent upon receipt of official transcripts from outside institutions, if applicable.

Complete at least 12 of the 16 required natural science hours (A&P I and II, Microbiology, and Chemistry).
Earn a minimum 2.75 GPA in the prerequisite natural science and prerequisite lower-division courses.
If accepted, an applicant must complete ALL prerequisites marked with * (refer to Prerequisite Lower-Division Courses on reverse side) BEFORE
starting the first semester of the upper-division nursing program.
Complete the designated sections of the HESI A2 test (Grammar, Math, Reading Comprehension, and Vocabulary) with a minimum
composite score of 300 and a minimum math score of 65; Learning Styles and Personality are also required; however, the results are not part
of the application criteria.
If required, submit Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores or accepted documentation. The College of Nursing TOEFL
requirement differs from that of UT Arlington. A high school diploma and/or a bachelors degree or higher earned in the United States
exempts the TOEFL requirement. If mandated, the minimum required scores must be earned to be a viable College of Nursing candidate to
the upper-division nursing program. College of Nursing Academic Advisors can provide further information concerning exemptions. For the
requirement in its entirety, refer to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Policies (pre-licensure) (uta.edu/nursing). For additional information, visit
www.uta.edu/universitycollege/prospective/testing-services/admissions-tests/toefl.

Complete the College of Nursing Campus-Based BSN application (uta.edu/nursing).
