e celebrate today the Solemnity

of the Most Holy Body and Blood
of Christ, what we also know as
the Corpus Christi. As we celebrate todays
feast, we remember the Last Supper,
when Jesus instituted the Sacrament of
the Holy Eucharist, wherein He offered
Himself as food and drink for all of us.
We commemorate this event during the
Consecration in the Holy Eucharist, when
the presider says, This is my body This
is my blood.
Jesus Christ gave us the best and the
greatest He can ever give His own Body
and Blood. This He did in His Passion and
Death when He selflessly offered Himself
in obedience to the will of His Father to
redeem us to bring us back to Him.
If you want to bring out the best or the
worst in a person, let him go through the
toughest situations. How he may be able to
cope will bring out the best and the worst

in him.
While reading the Gospel for today,
the words which touched me are bread
and wine. These two, bread and wine,
underwent the toughest kneading,
squeezing and molding that their
ingredients were thoroughly blended to
give us what we eat as bread and what we
drink as wine. Flour from wheat is kneaded
and molded to become bread. The grapes
are squeezed of their juice and these are
made to age to become wine. Through
the institution of the Holy Eucharist
when Jesus celebrated the Passover meal
with His disciples, He also foretold the
sufferings He was to undergo. He was
practically stripped off of everything.
Even His clothes were taken from Him.
His followers, except John, left Him. Even
Peter, who seemed to be the leader of the
group, denied Him three times. Only Mary,
His mother and John were at the foot of the

Cross, and three other women, watched

His crucifixion from afar.
Jesus offered no less than His own
Body and Blood for our Salvation. His
Passion and Death led us back to the
Father. Whenever we celebrate the Holy
Eucharist, Jesus is among us. He is our
spiritual bread. He consecrates us back to
the Father. By this, we have to participate
more in His salvific mission. We relinquish
this at the table of the Holy Eucharist,
where we offer the Body and Blood of
Jesus for our salvation. Here, we come as a
community to partake of Him and need to
not ever fear to die.
Let us make conscious effort to take
active participation in every celebration
to page
of the Holy Eucharist. Let turn
us also
offer3...
our
whole life in spreading the Good News of
our salvation. Let us invite one another
to come and share in the Eucharistic table.
Come, let us celebrate!!!

ANG SAKRAMENTO SANG KASAL

agkatapos nga nahatag ko na ang

mga bagay nga dapat dumdumon
nahanungod sa kinatuhay sa tunga sang
kasal bilang isa ka natural nga kontrato kag
sang kasal bilang isa ka Sakramento, kag ining
duha dapat gid kabigon nga matuod-tuod nga
kasal suno sa kabubut-on sang Dios, akon
naman ipaathag ang tatlo ka mga kamatuoran
nga ginapakamahal kag ginadampigan sang
Simbahan nahanungod sa kasal. Ining tatlo
ginatawag sa pulong nga ingles, goods of
marriage, nga kon sayuron, mga bagay nga
malahalon para sa isa ka kasal, kag kon wala
ang bisan isa sini, wala man sing matuod-tuod
nga kasal.
Ining tatlo amo ini: 1) ang kaayohan sang
Sakramento; 2) ang kaayohan sang magasawa; kag 3) ang kaayohan sang kabataan.
Ining tatlo maathag sa mga dinalan nga
ginagamit sang Simbahan sa paglarawan
sa kasal bilang isa ka paghiupod sang isa
ka lalaki kag isa ka babayi sa ila bug-os nga
kabuhi para sa ila kaayohan bilang magasawa kag para sa pagpadamo kag pagpadaku
sang mga kabataan.
1. Ang Kaayohan sang Sakramento
Ginakilala sang Simbahan nga ang kasal
sang mga binunyagan isa ka Sakramento,
isa sa pito ka mga Sakramento sang Santa
Iglesya. Bilang isa ka Sakramento, ang kasal
ginatan-aw nga isa ka padayon nga buhat
sang pagluwas, nga nasandig sa ministeryo

ni Kristo kag ginapadayon sang ministeryo

sang Simbahan, kag kon ginabantala,
ginapatigayon kag ginaselebrar nga may
pagtuo, nagapakig-ambit sa gugma sang Dios
kag katutum ni Kristo. Sa Prepasyo sang Misa
para sa Kasal, ginapangamuyo sa Amay nga
ang paghigugma sa tunga sang lalaki kag
babayi ginapasantos sang Sakramento sang
Kasal kag nahimo nga salaming sang imo
walay katapusan nga gugma.
Kon nagahambal kita nahanungod sa Kasal
bilang isa ka sakramento, dapat dumdumon
nga ginatumod naton ang duha ka importante
nga tinion, ang tion sang pagselebrar sang
sakramento nga ginatawag naton nga kasal,
kag ang tinion sang pag-updanay pagkatapos
sang kasal nga ginatawag ang pag-asawahay.
Ang sakramento sang kasal nagasugod sa
tion nga ang lalaki kag babayi nagatindog sa
atubangan sang Dios kag sang komunidad,
kag sa ila kaugalingon nga kabubut-on, hilway
nga ginadeklarar nga sila, kutob karon nga
adlaw, mangin isa sa tagipusuon kag kalag, sa
kaayohan kag sa kalainan, sa kahamungayaan
kag sa kaimulon, sa maayong lawas kag sa
balatian, tubtob sa amon kamatayon. Paagi
sini, ginasumpa nila sing hayag ang ila pinasahi
nga paghigugmaanay, isa ka paghigugma nga
magapadayon kag napatungod sa ila lamang,
kag gani ini nahimo nga isa ka sakramento,
isa ka publiko kag mabinungahon nga timaan
sang paghigugma ni Kristo, para sa ila,
para sa ila kabataan kag para sa bug-os nga
komunidad.

Karon nga mga panahon, madamo sa mga

lamharon nga pamatan-on ang nagatan-aw sa
kasal sa Simbahan nga isa lamang ka sosyal
nga kostumbre, ukon pagsunod sa luyag sang
ila mga ginikanan, ukon nasandig lamang
sa ila personal nga luyag, ukon bangod
sang mga rason pang-ekonomiya. Pero sa
pagkamatuod, ang kasal isa ka solemne nga
pagsulod sang mag-asawa sa isa ka seryoso
nga katungdanan sa atubangan sang Dios kag
sang komunidad nga sa diin ila ginadeklarar
nga sila nagahigugmaanay tubtob sa
katubtoban, kag luyag nila nga respetuhon ini
nga katungdanan kag ginapangayo nila ang
bulig sang katilingban agod matuman nila
ini. Gani ang mentalidad nga nagabaton sang
ginatawag nga trial marriage ukon free
unions nagakontra sa sini nga kamatuoran
kag wala nagarespeto sa dignidad sang tawo.
Pero may isa pa gid ka kahulogan ang
kasal bilang sakramento, kag ini amo ang
mga inadlaw nga sila naga-upod bilang magasawa. Sa sini nga kahulogan, makita si Kristo
nga nagahatag sang iya kaugalingon sa magasawa dira kag paagi sa ila nagapadayon
nga mahigugmaon nga pagtugyan sang ila
kaugalingon sa isa kag isa. Kag gani ang pagasawahay nahimo nga isa ka matuod-tuod
nga simbolo sang bag-o kag walay katapusan
nga katipan nga ginpasad sa dugo ni Kristo.

I find this study very interesting.

Parish Scholars Visita Casa at Guimaras

ast May 24, the Parish scholars went to

Guimaras to have the Visita Casa at the
house of Fr. Nathaniel Gentizon, our
youth director.
We prayed for our safety. It is the first
important thing we did to ensure that our
plans would be going smoothly, and we
truly hope not to confront any trouble along
the journey and we all looked forward to
reach our destination early.
After about an hour, we reached
our destination and we were ready to
experience the adventure. Our first stop
was at the Consolers of the Immaculate
Heart of Mary (CIHM), established in 2000
by Rev. Fr. Florentino S. Lim, a former
Trappist monk. Co-founder is a sister who
is a member of the Sisters of the Consolers
of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (CIHM).
The convent and facility offers a retreat and
recollection accommodation on a donation
basis. We had our little reflections, and
we discussed the seven gifts of Holy Spirit
- wisdom, understanding, self-control,
fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of
the Lord. Fr. Tinos discussion was full

of rich spiritual thoughts and things

to contemplate about while we were
spending our time in that serene place.
Then, we went to Trappist Monastery.
The place is a peaceful and sacred enclave
in Guimaras run by monks. We went
inside the big chapel and prayed silently.
We took our pictures as a remembrance.
Also, the monks are best known for the
extreme strictness that characterizes their
discipline. But we also discovered that
the monks sell souvenir and sacramental
items and process foods such as jellies,
jams, candies, mango biscocho, piyaya and
more, which are sold in a small shop within
the monastery grounds. All the products
are from ingredients grown in the Trappist
grounds. It was just so quiet but it was
beautiful in an unusual kind of way.
Our next stop was at the beach. We
excitedly prepared for it. The beach was
already crowded with other holidaymakers. Anyhow we managed to get a place
and we put our things there. In doublequick time we were enjoying ourselves in
the sea, we did island-hopping. It was great
fun. The water was cool and refreshing and

we loved all the splashing. We played some

games and had sand fights. Soon we heard
others calling us to have dinner. We blessed
the food and had our quality time at the
table. That night was a blast.
The next day, we were packing things
and preparing for our last journey. We
went to Fr. Nats house. As we reached the
place, we were amazed by what we saw, we
were surrounded with attractive flowers
and trees, the whole field was arranged
beautifully. We had our lunch there,
deliciously prepared by Fr. Nats Nanay.
We were so full and each of us did some
burping. Of course, we took lots of pictures
and these shots are truly treasured.
Before we left Guimaras, we felt
fully satisfied. We cherished every single
moment of the journey. Overall, it was a
happy trip for us. We considered ourselves
extremely fortunate to be able to enjoy this
trip. We are very thankful to God. The trip
made us more independent and spiritual
need.
Thank you God, this is a huge blessing
for us. All the glory is yours, now and
forever. Amen.

(Marian presentations or action
songs, quiz bee and games) and
Holy Mass, which highlighted
the occasion at the National
Shrine of Our Lady of Candles,
Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral,
presided by Msgr. Higinio C.
Velarde, Parish Priest and Rev.
Fr. Joenick S. Territorio who
led the procession. Children,
Catechists, Parents and Faithfuls
joined together making the
occasion meaningful and fruitful

Tabuc Suba Proper- 3rd place.

ay 23, 2015, one hundred seventytwo young people from the different
parishes of the Vicariate of St. Peter
gathered at the La Isabelita Hall.
Initiated to re-echo the Regional Youth
Day 2015 held at Bacolod City last April
13-16, 2015, this First Vicariate Youth Day
(VYD) activity gave the young people the
opportunity to gather, meet new and old
friends, and build harmonious relationships.
The activity was planned by the Vicariate
Youth Council together with the participants
who attended the Regional Youth Day
2015 and supported by our beloved Youth
Directors and Parish Priests.
Host of the event was the Jaro Parish
Youth Ministry (JPYM), and it meant work,
implementation and facilitation of all the
activities. It also meant preparing everything,
making sacrifices, and doing our best to
bring our fellow young people closer to

God. We made sure that they had something

worthwhile to bring home.
7:00am. Our participants started to
arrive, we gave out their kits and tee-shirts
by parish. As they entered the hall, we
prayed the Holy Rosary. Minds and bodies
were energized by dancing the RYD 2015
theme song, The 4G Song: Go, Give God
with Gladness, and the popular We are
all Gods Children, the Papal Visit theme
song. Our brother seminarians led us to
a solemn Morning Praise. We also had a
chance to renew our Baptismal Promises
at the same time as we examined our faith
and commitment in serving God. During
the Roll Call, representatives from eight
parishes demonstrated cheers and yells that
awakened us all. We listened, laughed and
wiggled in the different performances. After
that, we had a Getting to Know You Human
Bingo activity that gave us a chance to meet

more young people, not just through his and

hellos, we also got to know their favorite
colors, foods, and others.
From the Parish of Our Lady of Peace
and Good Voyage came Manang Rogina Chua
who shared to us glimpse of her experiences
and knowledge learned during the RYD. She
explained to us the theme RYD Goes 4G:
Go, Give God with Gladness. Go means we
reach out to our brothers and sisters who
are poor and needy. Give means to help
not only financially but bringing God in their
midst. God is our provider, strength and hope.
Extending our help to them is not just a duty
or obligation to receive salvation. Giving God
to others brings us gladness in our hearts.
When we give whole-heartedly, we also feel
the joy and peace in our hearts, seeing our
brothers and sisters smile and full of hope.

New Priest of the Archdiocese of Jaro Ordained

ust like me, I know he, too, has been following

up how Forevermore will be concluded kung may forever ba talaga o wala. He is an
avid fan of teleseryes. Aside from eating as his
hobby, he usually follows the recent Kapamilya
Primetime Telenovelas. So do I. After dinner,
when our schedule permits, we proceed to the
canteen, switch on the television all the way
till before night prayer, and I would usually sit
beside him because he usually shares his food
with his seatmate. That is how I will remember
our casual bonding with Rev. Fr. Paul Patrick
Alfeche Alipao .
He was born on April 10, 1985 to a
prominent family of Alimodian. Though Dr.
Marylou Alipao and Mr Juanito Alipao once
occupied a political seat in their town, Fr.
Paul Patrick remained humble and simple. He
graduated at Alimodian Central Elementary
School before he entered the Seminary.
He was our senior when I was a Benjamin
of St. Vincent Ferrer Seminary Community. It
is also in this century-old institution where he
finished his secondary education and continued
his studies in Philosophy, graduating in 2006.
Well-admired for his creativity and leadership,
he is also forever remembered for bequeathing
his Alma Mater an endearing precious legacy the SVFS Hymn, the seminary hymn which he
composed.
After graduating in college, he ventured on
life outside of the seminary when he applied
for regency. But the call of God remained so
persistent; the seed of vocation in his heart
got stronger even outside the confines of the
seminary, and this made him decide to go

back after three years. And that was when

we met again at St. Joseph Regional Seminary.
Being the JARSEM President that time, he
warmly welcomed me to the community of
theology seminarians. He was really a brother
to me - theology tutorials, free printing, books
lending, and he was reminding me if I had
misdemeanors committed.
He was one of the brilliant and creative
seminarians Ive ever known. He is an achiever
not only in the aspect of academics but in
other matters as well. His size would perhaps
not deny the fact that he is a foodie, indeed.
He would initiate a pancake party or sausage
afternoon among the JARSEMs. Once you are
with him, you will never get hungry, surely
you will not. The Ayala and Krispy Kreme
bonding in Cebu during the Gathering of
Theology Seminarians and the Freskas and
Maridel moments with him while I was having

our Month with the Bishop, and while he was

on his pre-diaconal program at the Palasyo is
also fondly remembered during our retreat
I, together with two others went to his room,
suddenly to the surprise of all of us, Msgr.
Sozonte was already standing at his door. The
rest is history.
And on the 27th of May, I was inspired upon
seeing my older brother, fully prostrate on the
sanctuary, anointed with Chrism and being laidon in blessing by the hands of the bishop . After
his Canta Misa in Alimodian last June 1st, we
stayed at their resort, and for us it was heartwarming seeing that Fr. Pol-Pol was also there
bonding with us - drinking, swimming, chatting
and playing just like before. I never felt a gap.
He is a priest now. He is already Fr. Paul Patrick,
but for me and for many of his contemporaries
in the seminary, he will still be Pol-Pol.
Tu es sacerdos in aeterenum - You are a
priest forever. A hymn sung at his ordination.
A song every priest in the Archdiocese knows
by heart. It has already become a theme song at
every ordination, on anniversaries, and during
funerals of priests. It is a song that reminds us
that, totoong may forever. That forever is not
only applicable to lovers, (though theologically
speaking marital love ends in death,) but also to
a priest who has consecrated his whole life to
the Lord. The kind of life that a priest has vowed
to live is not contractual but forever binding.
Fr. Pol-Pol, may forever nga and that is
YOU through the grace of the priesthood
that you received on your ordination. You are
a priest FOREVER according to the order of
Melquisedech.

Legion of Mary Holds National Convention in Iloilo City

eing a legionary is a great privilege. Last

May 21, to 24, 2015, the legionaries
held their national convention in Iloilo
City, no less. With delegates coming different
parts of the country, the participants prayed
and worked on the theme: Legionaries:
Getting Ready the Church of the Poor for the
51st International Eucharistic Congress.
Msgr. Gene Velarde in his homily
mentioned the different conventions that
took place in the Bible. In the 1st Reading,
there was a Convention attended by King
Agrippa, Festus, representatives of the
Sanhedrin and a good number of Jews in
Caesarea. The occasion was a courtesy visit
of the King of the Procurator to deliberate
on Pauls case. Paul was accused of having
committed an offense. Paul defended himself
with a wonderful speech and the result
was just as intriguing and at the same time
mystifying.
Another convention took place in the
Gospel. That was between the Resurrected
Christ and his Apostles. After a whole night
of fishing, and having caught nothing, Christ
appeared to Peter and his companions. Then
when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said
to Simon Peter, Simon, son of John, do you
love me more than these? He said to him,
Yes, Lord: you know that I love you
Follow me.
There is nothing more liberating
and comforting than the knowledge and
conviction that one has been true to his
vocation and mission. St. Paul has always
insisted that he did everything which the Lord
entrusted to him through the guidance of the
Holy Spirit. Because of this, he underwent
so many hardships and difficulties, even
imprisonment and persecution for the sake

experience about the Sacada Workers in
Negros Occidental; Jill Collen Alfonso shared
to us valuable experiences with the orphans;
and Quiem Bryan Mahilum, about a Political
Detainee.
After the snacks, a talk-show format
session was held featuring Persons with
Disabilities, the Urban Poor (Demolished
Homes), the Out-of-School Youth, and a
Trisikad Driver who shared their experiences
with us. Hearts were touched, and we
realized how blessed we are. Meril Robles,
representing the Urban Poor, said that
when their house was demolished he just
held on to the truth that God was reserving
something big and precious for them. On the
other hand, the sector of the parents with
visual impairment challenged us to serve
with strong commitment because we are

of Gods kingdom. Just as he was zealous as

a rabid persecutor of the early Christians, he
was even more zealous in his preaching of the
Gospel. He never compromised his position
and his teaching because he preached only
Christ crucified, not by eloquent words, but
with the humility and persistence of the one
who was aware that he was merely a servant
of the Lord. He urged his followers and
disciples to preach Gods word in season and
out of season. He prided himself of having run
the race and finished the course. This is the
reason why even when he was a late-comer
compared to the other Apostles, he was
always placed side by side with the one to
whom Christ has entrusted the task of leading
the Church - Peter, the Apostle and first Pope.
The Legion of Mary has been around for
many years. It was founded as a new form
of apostolate, with members paying visits to
the sick and needy in twos, like the disciples.
Throughout its history, the Legion of Mary
has always been viewed with favor and
support by the ecclesiastical authorities in
the dioceses where it has developed. Rooted
in Marian spirituality and commitment to the
Holy Spirit, the life of the Legion of Mary is
based on faith in the joint action of the Spirit
and Our Lady in the work of redemption, and
the spread of the Kingdom of God throughout
the world. Prayer is common, apostolic
work and the weekly meeting, which all the
members are required to attend, having
been typical features of the Legion from the
beginning.
The Legion of Mary has been through
different changes. It has not been spared
from the challenges brought out by the
changes in the Church. From post Vatican I
to pre-Vatican II, from post-Vatican II to the

completely normal unlike them. They may

be blind, they said, but they still continue to
serve the Lord.
Cedrick John Dapat, an out-of-school
youth, said that he is not unfortunate because
he uses his time in serving rather than
engaging in harmful vices. Another youth,
John Gerald Flores, revealed that he drives a
trisikad so that he can go to school.
We also had on Open Forum, and here
the young people had the opportunity to
ask their questions and were generously
answered by our guests.
After eating our lunch, we made a
creative response to help alleviate the
problem of poverty. The JPYM made a
statement: We, the youth of the Parish of
Our Lady of Candles aims to C.A.R.E (Coins
Are Reserved for Education). Hence, we will
recycle plastic bottles, collect coins, and put

clericalism to modernism and secularism
it is a wonder that the Legion of Mary has
emerged largely unscathed.
Just as St. Paul has appealed to his
Jewish tradition and Roman roots in
order to protect himself and be allowed to
continue his preaching, the Legionaries of
Mary have remained true to their identity
as warriors and defenders of the Catholic
faith throughout all these years. For sure,
there were casualties along the way, but the
identity and spirituality of the Legion saw to
it that it would survive.
After Vatican II, there was a shift in
focus. It was the Age of the Laity. The laity
was given its rightful place and role in the
Church. Priests were told to concentrate on
the proper priestly functions and to allow
the laity to do the work which is properly
theirs as lay people. There was an explosion
of lay ministers. Every aspect of parish life
has its own ministry to care for! Matters and
areas that were before taken cared of by the
religious organizations were taken over by
these ministries and by lay ministries.
Then PCPII came and BECs or MKKs or
other smaller communities began to be called
a new way of being Church. Fellowship
communities, faith communities, covenanted
communities, healing communities - these
begun to attract a large following. In the
process, many of the Religious organizations
and associations got caught in the confusion.
Many of them were at a loss as to where
they belonged. Can they be considered as
BECs? To what ministry will they affiliate
themselves?
Legionaries will always be Legions of
Mary! To God alone be the glory!

to help our brothers and sisters in the youth
ministry to pay for their school miscellaneous
expenses. This project C.A.R.E. started 2 years
ago in the ministry.
The highlight of our First VYD was the
cultural show. Six parishes prepared a skit and
interpretative dance portraying the realities
of poverty in our society. The creativity of
the young people amazed us all. We have
sacrificed our precious time, showcased
our talents, and shared our treasures. The
Pilgrims walk was a preparation for the
Youth Mass, presided by our Vicariate Youth
Director, Rev. Fr. Nathaniel G. Gentizon.
All our sacrifices were paid off through
the smiles and hugs from our fellow young
people. This activity helped us to be more
committed and passionate in serving God and
His young servants.

Thursday prayer.
Lord, thank you for another day within
this life of mine, give me the strength to live
it well whatever I may find. Bestow from
your abundance whatever I may lack, to
use the hours wisely for I cannot have them
back.
Lord, thank you for another day in
which to make amends for little slights
or petty words inflicted on my friends, for
sometimes losing patience with problems
that I find, for seeing the faults in others
lives but not the ones in mine.
Lord, thank you for another chance, in
which to try to be a little more deserving
of the gifts Youve given me, for yesterday
is over and tomorrows far away, and I
remain committed to the good I do today.
Amen.

Nobody is perfect. We all have our

shortcomings. Each one has his own
desire his own judgment. We cannot
force others to follow everything we say
or do. That is why the term individuality
must be respected.
Today, there are many contrasting
events that happen - anything, anywhere.
It is because each person has his own likes
and dislikes from home to gatherings
to public places. Sometimes we ridicule,
sometimes we insult. Does this mean
that we are perfect and that we must be
followed?
We have to listen to what others say.
We have to observe what others do. We
do not have the same way of life. We even
follow different religious roads.
Let us do our best to forget and forgive
those who hurt us. If understanding and
love will be practiced at all times in all
places, we will become a community of

God, loving citizens who can erase the

clouds of anger and hatred and create
sunshine in the midst of throbbing hearts.
As we grow older, let us do our utmost
to stay close to God and make prayer as
our bridge to a better horizon. Nobody
lives forever. There will come a time when
we will be made to sleep eternally and to
be with the Lord if we have done our best
during our living days.
In the past issues, I have mentioned
what God the Father does to those who
believe and trust in Him. You do not need
a prayer book if you pray to Him. Just talk
to Him as a child does to his father. Tell
Him your troubles. Ask Him and trust Him.
Pray for recovery from illness, for natural
disasters to stop like the storm and very
hot weather. Pray for yourself and others,
too. Be sincere. Be constant. You will feel
His touch. Try it. Now!
