Introduction:
Narrator in a Balagtasan voice:
Pagmamahal..
(For many years now the
name Rizal has had overtones of rebel cries.) He is regarded as the Symbol of the revolutionary sentiment. On what
grounds? Has Rizal made any public act or statement of separatism? has ever proclaimed over Spain,.. our mother land,..
that he.. abhors his dominion over her territories and that he.. intends to wage war and destroy her?.. No!.. Although Rizal
had written two novels, Noli me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, where no respect was given to Spain nor to the religious
orders.. And this books along with other writings which criticized the colonial regime and with the campaign to secure his
country certain rights which serve as a stepping stones to autonomy and eventually to independence.. But it does not
follow that these theories are the determining cause of uprising. The judges cannot be vindicated, the judges can only be
just..
Judge: Does the accused wish to add anything in his defense?
Rizal: En cuanto a la rebelin, desde 6 de Julio 1892, (Concerning the rebellion, since July 6, 1892) I have not engaged
in politics until June 1 of this year, when Dr. Valenzuela came to notify me about the uprising, thus proving that I have no
prior contact with them. For if I was in touch, I would have already known about such a grave matter as an uprising.
Another negative proof is that they do not hold any single letter from me. They exploited my name most cruelly and that
the very last moment scheme to take me surprise. Why did they not contact me earlier? possibly.. because they knew that
I. although less than contented was resign about my exile and I refuse to consider many various schemes to escape
Dapitan..
[Curtains will fall down with next narration..]

Narrator in a Balagtasan voice:
Scene #6: Rizals Illusion of Simon, The Jeweller
[Rizal anxious of his drawing near death.. wanted to freak out when he could see the image of Simon of El Filibusterismo
in his head.. he feels almost like him.. no.. very alike him.. who was put to death in the end..]
Simon: [ Talking to Rizal for real ] May panahon ka pang bagohin ang lahat.. pwede mo akong buhayin..
Rizal: [ shocked with Simons presence] Ang ginagawa mo dito?
Simon: [ continues talking about events in the books ] Kailangan mong pasabogin ang lampara!
[understands what Simon is talking about..] dahil.. personal lang ang
paghihiganting pakay mo!!
[ handed Rizal his
pen..]
Simon: [ with a threatening and blaming voice ] Kung ganun ay tama nga sila, nagkasal ka nga!
[ looks at the audience with blaming eyes ] bakit pati ang buhay ko?.. [ looks
back to Simon while uttering the words..
[ Simon convinced of what Rizal said.. smiled.. and exits while Rizal sat on his table and started to write with his pen the
Last Farewell..]
Rizal: [ contented with his work.. stops.. looks at the audience..] Handa na ako..
[Curtains will fall..]

Y fuera ms brillante ms fresca, ms florida,
