ST.

COLUMBA CATHOLIC CHURCH

June 28, 2015
Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Vision and Mission

At our June Pastoral Council meeting, Fr. Mel reviewed
with us our parish Vision and Mission Statements:
VISION STATEMENT
St. Columba, the Roman Catholic Parish of Serra Mesa
in San Diego, California, is a community of loving, faithful and welcoming people dedicated to following the
teachings of Jesus Christ, united and growing in faith and
loving service.
MISSION STATEMENT
With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the assistance of
our pastor and church leaders, we, the parishioners of St.
Columba, embrace our mission to spread the word of God
by following the footsteps of Jesus Christ and helping
everyone to know the way to salvation through meaningful worship, catechism, charitable actions, effective evangelization, and through embracing Stewardship as a way
of life, leading to an increase in faith, hope and love.

Fall Festival
SAVE THE DATE! October 17 & 18 will be the first St.
Columba Parish Fall Festival. This will be a joint effort
(school and church) to promote community at St.
Columba. We invite everyone to participate. There will be
a raffle for a new car!

From our bulletin dated June 20, 1965:
ALTAR BOY PROGRAM:
Father Skiffington would
like all the altar-boys in
Grades five to eight, and
all who would like to be
altar-boys in those grades
(public
or
parochial
schools) to meet with him
tomorrow at 9:30. He will
set
up
schedules
of
classes to suit all. Old
altar-boys will have to
check out again on their
Latin.
Later in the Summer, Father Casey will take
classes in ceremonies. Only those who pass
the Latin tests will go on to the ceremony
classes. The Fathers will not have time to
coach individuals who miss the regular
classes. If a boy is unfaithful in class
attendance, he would not be faithful to
Mass schedules later. We wouldnt want him
at all.
