Executive Summary (Summary or Abstract)

The purpose of this report to investigate the nomophobia syndrome influence on the level of
Semarang State Polytechnic student achievement.
The results showed that the majority of Semarang State Polytechnic students can not be far away from
the cell phone. If that happens then there will be anxiety and panic in him
In addition to that indirectly affect students psychologically for example such as a lack of sensitive
surrounding it because it is too busy with his mobile phone

2. Introduction
Nomophobia (no mobile phone phobia) literally means no mobile phobia is the fear of mobile phone
contact. If someone in the area that there is no network, has run out of balance or walking worse than
batteries, people would be worried, that adversely affects a person's level of concentration.
In recent times there appears to have been the transformation and upgrading fiture. the first mobile
phone just to call and sms now, with their mobile phones and supported the interet connection it's like
there is in the grip.
The more aware of information in cyberspace, real world increasingly neglected. it can be seen as a
process of learning in the class. we will meet some of the students were busy with his cell phone and
pay less attention to the lecturer. this of course will affect the level of student achievement

3. Method
This research was conducted with questionnaires distributed to the students of Semarang State
Polytechnic seen busy with his cell phone for the sample we took 98 people from all courses and
majors.
Data collected to obtain information about the psychological aspects of the respondent. Independent
variables including the semester and cumulative grade index of students. Dependent variables
including attitudes towards the use of mobile phones, mobile phone dependence and anxiety-related.
The questionnaire focused on nomophobia has eight components: the duration of having a mobile
phone with yourself; anxiety and stress experienced due to faulty connections; lost phone and battery,
the reactions shown to the phone ringing at inappropriate times; the frequency change of the phone /
sim card and reactions due to the inability to use the telephone for a period of one week

4. Discussion / Interpretation of Results


This study showed that 53% of the subjects tend to worry when they lose their mobile phone runs out
of battery and lossing signal. This study found that approximately 58% of men and 48% of women
suffer from phobias, and an additional 9% feel stress when their phones are off. Approximately 55%
of those surveyed cited stay in touch with friends or family as the main reason that they got worried

when they could not use their phones. To avoid the stress caused due to malfunctioning of mobile
phones, mobile phone users have to carry a charger all the time, and reload in order to keep connected
with our inernet connection. One should assess their addiction to mobile phones (nomophobia status)
with the help of online teaching sites, which can help reduce the anxiety level due to overuse of
mobile phones.

5. Conclusion
Results from this study are suggestive of dependency among mobile phone Semarang State
Polytechnic students. These data indicate nomophobia an issue that arises from the modern era. Some
research should be done to measure and assess the actual problems and thus take appropriate steps to
address the growing problem.

6. Recommendation
It is suggested that students Politknik Semarang State in order to be wise in the use of a mobile phone
in order to utilize mobile phones with good and necessary
The policy should recommend:
limit the duration of mobile phone use and expenditure to buy credits
should be more grateful, concerned about the things around, to communicate directly and reduce
communication in social media
