Hasan Raja

Mystic Poet Hason Raja, also known as Dewan Hason Raja, was a Chittagonian poet, mystic
philosopher and folksongs writer and composer. His fathers name is Dewan Ali Raja, and his mothers
name is Hurmuth Jahan Bibi. Dewan Hason Raja Choudhury was born on 21 December 1854 in the
village of Bishwanath. He gained international recognition few years after his death, when Nobel prize
laureate, poet Rabindranath Tagore mentioned him in his lectures at Oxford University. Hason's
poetry reflects his spiritual pursuits and the ever-changing nature of the world. Poet Rabindranath
was overwhelmed with the depth of Hason Rajas thought, the insight, the supreme truth and the
ultimate goal. Despite his financially privileged upbringing, Hason Raja had set up a number of local
and religious centers like masques, temples and churches. He was widely engaged in charities within
his immediate communities. He donated a vast land properties for the well-being of the people. He
was also interested about well-being and protection of birds and animals life. After the death of his
elder step-brother, followed by the death of his father Ali Raja, he had put the power and
responsibility of the whole family. Unfortunately, the severe earthquake of 1897 in india had ruined
all his properties, lost many of his kins and relatives. The earthquake left a big impact on his mind,
life, philosophy and his music. Hason Raja died in 1922, years before his contribution to the poetry of
Bengal was mentioned in lectures at Oxford University by Nobel poet laureate Rabindranath Tagore
1930. Two museums were established in his name in two places. One namely, Hason Raja Museum at
his birthpalce Lokkonshri, Sunamganj, and another namely, Museum of Rajas' at Raja - Kunjo, Sylhet.

Shah Abdul Karim


Baul Shah Abdul Karim is one of the most famous folk music singer & composer in Bangladesh. He
specialized in Bengali Baul Music. Shah Abdul Karim was born in Uzan Dhol in Derai Upazila,
Sunamganj zila, sylhet division on 5 February,1916. He spend his whole life in this small village.
Shah Abdul Karim growing up with poverty & hardship from his childhood. Poverty made him a
farmer. And he started his work as an agricultural labor. Though he was a poor, nothing could stop
him to make good song. He was so deeply absorbed in music that he was failed to engaged some
jobs. In course of time, he grew up and he received his training in spiritual and baul music from his
master 'Shah Ibrahim Mustan Baksh' At one point of his life he lost his voice . Then he came to
his guru Shah Ibrahim Mastan Baksh and begged for forgiven his sins. And couple of years later he
got back his magical voice. When he got back his voice than he was above 90 years old. On that time
his voice was the beautiful, nice and loudest voice among the elderly person. Beside his song he
loves his wife very much. His wife name was Aftabunnessa.
She died in 1987 and
Shah Abdul Karim died in sylhet 12 September 2009.

Taj Mahal
The Tajmahal is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. It is situated at Agra in India. About
three hundred years ago, Emperor Shah Jahan of Delhi built it as a tomb for his wife. Architecturally,
the building is made of fine white and colored marble. It has eight sides and many open arches. It
rests on a platform or terrace of red sandstone. Four slender white towers rise from the corners of the
terrace. There is a large dome above the center of the building. Around this large dome, there are
four smaller domes. Just inside of the outer walls, the visitors can look into the central room from an
open corridor. The bodies of Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz lie in two graves below this room. The
Tajmahal is surrounded by a beautiful garden and there is a long pool that stretches out in front of the
building. One can see the beauty of the Tajmahal in its reflection in the pool water. Visitors come to

see this wonderful building at different time of the day since it assumes a different looks at different
times. Most people like it best one moonlit nights.

The Pyramids
The Treasures Within is to show what items the kings took to the afterlife with them as well as the
pyramids themselves. The Pharaohs took necklaces made of solid gold to statues of their gods to
help them alone the way to their afterlife. Pyramids were on the dead side of the Nile River to show
that everyone on that side was dead and the pyramid was meant to keep the mummy of the Pharaoh
safe from any grave robber that tried to break into the final resting place of a once great ruler. The
Pharaohs were incased in a several layer sarcophagus with the final layer which is shown on the
poster made of gold with magnificent detail in the writing and drawing on the final layer before the
mummy itself. The background is the Great Pyramid of Giza to show the greatness of what the
Pharaohs were kept in. Each stone block was 2 to 15 tons and the base was almost a perfect square.
The construction of these great building still to this day cannot be figured out with the level of
technology back during this time period.

The Eiffel Tower


Paris is a beautiful and romantic city. It is famous for Eiffel Tower. Eiffel Tower is in the city center. The
Eiffel Tower is 320 meters high and has three platforms. People can stand the highest of the tower
and look down to the ground. A river is next to the Eiffel Tower named Seine River. It is run through
the whole Paris. There are a lot of trees under the tower and a lot of buildings near them. Orsay
Museum is in front of tower. It is converted from an old train station in 1986. Notre Dame is in front of
the museum. That is the background of Hugo's novel "Quasimodo". Triumphal arch is at the other
side of the Seine River. It was built by Napoleon. It means people who win the war and come back to
their hometown. Louvre Museum is in front of it. It is the biggest museum in the world. And it's own
the most important collection such as "Mona Lisa Smile" by Da Vinci.

Computer
The computer is one of the most brilliant gifts of science. This device was originally developed by
Charles Babbage. Most countries have developed fast due to computerization. Writing a program is
essential for a computer. Speed, accuracy, reliability, and integrity are the main characteristics of a
computer. Many of the routine activities today at home and in business are done by computers. The
computer has proved a friend and servant of science, technology and industry. Most offices, shops,
factories and industries use computers. The Internet is a storehouse of information. The computer is
boon to all. Telecommunication and satellite imageries are computer based. Computer has made the
world a global village today.

Space travel
Mans curiosity for knowledge has led him to explore space. Space contains the planets, countless
galaxies and milky ways. Man has been able to go to space and collect pictures of the sun, the
planets and the moon. The first man made satellite Sputnik-1 was sent into space by Russia in 1957.
Uri Gagarin of Russia became the first man to go into space. Man has landed on the moon and he is
trying to find out the existence of life on other planets. Telecommunication, weather forecasting,
radio and television programmes etc. are all monitored by satellites in space. There are also military

stations and spy satellites in space which pose a threat of a nuclear war. This should be avoided and
scientists should work for the benefit of mankind.

Mobile Phone
In modern global world, mobile phone has been a part and parcel of our life. It is a great invention of
modern science. It is called so because a user can carry it wherever he goes out. It has brought about
multidimensional changes in our daily life. Nowadays it is regarded not only as a communicative
device but also as an inseparable part of modern life. Using mobile phone, one can take a snap of
anything, record voices and videos, compose songs and ring-tones, edit wallpapers and what not.
Moreover, GPRS or WAP enabled mobile sets have created multifarious possibilities providing us with
the opportunities of internet chatting, gaming, exchanging MMS, mailing, browsing etc. Besides,
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technologies of mobile phone can create PAN (Personal Area Network) in which
the intended mobile users can easily and instantly exchange all sorts of data and information from
one mobile device to another. It has made the interpersonal communication very easy and fast. One
can communicate with the expected person within a few seconds through a mobile phone. Business
communication has become easier because of the use of this device. Actually most of the businesses
are depended on this speedy mode of communication. It is also helpful for the students. They can get
suggestion of their studies from their friends and teachers. So, the number of consumers of mobile
phone is increasing day by day. It makes the world smaller and brings all closer. But, it is unfortunate
that it has some negative aspects too. Criminals also use it for their activities. It causes some health
hazard. Scientists believe that it causes brain tumours by its invisible and uncontrolled radiation.
Particularly the pregnant women and children should not use it at all. Despite all these, mobile phone
is a blessing for us.

Global Village
The term 'Global Village' is a buzzword in the present time. Today the world is considered to be a
global village. It is because today's world has become smaller through the development of transport
and ICT (information, communication and technology). Today all the people of the world can
communicate with one another within the shortest time. Now people can travel from one country to
another with the help of fastest transport. They can get news and views of all countries of the world
by reading newspapers. Moreover, through the electronic media like TV and Radio, people can get
news of any event from any part of the world in a very short time. People can also get news from the
online newspapers in the internet. People can communicate with their nearest and dearest ones living
in any corner of the world by sending them emails in the internet. They can also communicate with
them through various social media like Facebook and twitter. They can talk with them with the use of
telephone. They can even talk face to face through video calls with the help of various messengers
like Skype, Yahoo messenger etc. So we can say that all the people of the world have come close to
one another. Today all the people of the world are like friends living near one another. So the world is
deemed to be a global village.
